This is one of the oldest buildings left in Brisbane built by prisoners - the other is the grain depot on George Street. The old windmill stands in the local "first" position - and it bears witness to everything from hanging to protests to weather warnings to Brisbane's first place to transmit television signals. Not walking in now, but still worth 20 minutes up the hill - the good thing is you can see the mean look Brisbane has had. Much of Brisbane's history has sadly been destroyed, but this beautiful thing survived and, after 188 years, it remains the jewel in the crown. It's a must-see attraction for all history buffs.
