The magnificent palace is guarded by two giant yaks, a mythical animal dating back to the 14th century. In this walled complex of Grand Palaces, there are dozens of buildings: the Festival Temple, the Jade Buddha, the Le Dana Sheli Tower (the golden bell-shaped pagoda), the palace itself, the Temple of the National Column, the Queen's Textile Museum in Bangkok, and so on. The upper balcony is a magnificent place to see many of these structures, as shown in the attached photos. Walking along the upper platform, the landscape of various structures changes with the light and perspective. The best thing about getting on the balcony is that there is no extra charge for this hidden gem-like place, which is already included in the Grand Palace ticket price.
