The US Capitol is the seat of the US Congress, located on Capitol Hill, 25 meters high in Washington, D.C., the heart building of the United States and a landmark in Washington. The most striking place of the Capitol is the Central Roundhouse, which is generally entered from the East Gate. The East Gate is also known as the Columbus Gate, and the bronze-cast door is embossed on the Columbus Door. From the East Gate to the Capitol, you will enter the Central Roundhouse. The interior is 53 meters high and the hall is more than 30 meters in diameter. The circular walls feature eight large oil paintings that chronicle eight major events in American history. On the south side of the central rotunda is a sculpture hall with statues of various people. By the early 1990s, the sculpture hall had 94 bronze and stone statues, all of which were of a generation of talents in various fields. The Roundhouse and some of the chambers of the Capitol were free to visitors.
