The southern end has the most activity - just flat lawns, surrounded by huge old trees, and some children’s playgrounds, but the area’s population has to surge because there are always lots of families, schoolchildren and single students. Then there is the central dog racing field, then the large swaths of lawns in the north, which are mostly used for sport. One good thing about the north is that they seem to have gotten rid of all the campsites under the railway viaduct (I always thought most campers were tourists, not homeless, but the few remaining homeless people could smell 50 metres away), So you can now better appreciate the arched viaduct and the waterscape further afield - crossing the road, at the water's edge is the path linking the fish market and the Glebe coastal trail.
