Yalu River Broken Bridge Review

All travelers to Dandong will go to the banks of the Yalu River to see the broken bridge built in 1909. The broken bridge was the first bridge on the Yalu River. It was blown up by the US military when it resisted the US and aided the DPRK. There are four holes left on the Chinese side, which is a must-visit landmark in Dandong. Follow the broken bridge to the remaining bridge, facing the river wind can overlook North Korea. Next to the broken bridge is the Sino-DPRK friendship bridge that was the volunteer army "staggering, angry, across the Yalu River". It is a bridge of friendship that witnessed the people of China and North Korea join forces to fight the invaders. ​

鸭绿江断桥是原鸭绿江大桥被炸毁后的残余部分。该桥为鸭绿江上诸多桥中第一座桥，由日本朝鲜总督府铁道局所建。1909年5月在没有征得清政府意见的情况下，先在朝鲜一侧施工，在1910年4月工程过半后，日本强迫清政府同意在中国一侧建桥，于同年5月在安东开工，1911年10月竣工。1950年11月，被美国空军炸断，成为抗美援朝沧桑历史的见证者。断桥桥头有一炮楼，是日本于1928年夏修建，高十一米（含地下室），直径六米，他是日本帝国主义侵略和掠夺我国的历史见证。
