Yuanmingyuan Apartment Review

The walls are decorated with complex brick carvings when the house is built. The style is a combination of Chinese and Western styles. The window glass is located in the corridor structure of the early building, which is common in the colonial period.

When visiting the special exhibition of art images of "Looking Back: 9 Invisible Snippets on the Bund", I will enjoy a number of renovated historical buildings in the source of Rock Bund, which opened in 2022. (Continue 2) Yuanmingyuan Apartment (Figure 1～ 4) was built in 1904 and is located at No. 115 Yuanmingyuan Road. It is the earliest English apartment in Shanghai. The whole building presents a typical British Queen Anne revival style. In the two corners of the building along the street, the architect made a cut corner treatment. On the ground floor, a semi-circle shallow porch was built, supported by two Ionik short columns, and the clever design naturally created a semi-circle balcony for the second floor. Next to the Yuanmingyuan Apartment is the Ampere Foreign Bank Building (Figure 5～ 10) located at No. 97 Yuanmingyuan Road. The building was built in 1907 and the main building was in a British classical architectural style. The most prominent thing is that there is a very beautiful circular pick-out window in the middle of the three floors, a bit like a delicate chandelier. In 2014, Christie's auction house was stationed in the Ampere Foreign Bank building, so many flags with the words "Christie's" can be seen on the first floor of the building.

The whole building shows a typical British Queen Anne revival style. The "Queen Anne revival style" sounds very royal ribbons, and I went to deep learning: Queen Anne style was born in the 19th century, when the British Empire was in the heyday of Victoria. Queen Anne was the architectural form that represented the peak of art at the time. By freely combining the decorative elements of all the architectural styles that were circulating at that time, she became the most representative architectural style.

圆明园公寓位于圆明园路115号，整个建筑表现出典型的英国安妮女王复兴风格，清水砖墙、砖雕、使用白色的粉刷和砖形成强烈的色彩对比，室内装饰非常豪华。

洛克·外滩源的一部分，圆明园公寓也是红砖建筑，英国的建筑风格，在外滩，经典的建筑很多，保存的也非常完好，走在圆明园路上，感觉就像在欧洲，建筑风格和周围环境融为一体，很美好的感受。
