The short tour time will only take you to see the classic wreckage of the Western Building. I am free to travel in depth and rely on my feet. I almost walked the whole garden step by step. It took about 5 hours, and it was nearly 3W steps. The real part of the Yuanmingyuan is actually very large, and the environment inside is very good, that is, it is indeed a ruin; all the buildings are basically only left with earth buns, or stone foundations, the water surface and environment are better preserved, you can experience it before. Very angry. There are no people in the Yuanmingyuan, and many people take a free battery car to walk around. It takes some physical strength to really want to walk down a little bit. I also went to look at the next March 18th Martyrs Memorial and then knew the history.

The scenic area is very large. Tourists who plan to visit the Summer Palace and the Yuanmingyuan need to pay attention to the tour time. There are tour buses in the scenic area to choose from. There are many people waiting during the peak period. It is Tsinghua University to go out from the Changchun Garden Gate.

Big park! Lots of historical ruins. Would be great if you have a guide to explain its significance. Not easy to get around with kids as it’s impossible to cover everything in a day.

Was lucky enough to go on a sunny day that was not crowded! Mid-morning is best, and it’s good to spend at least 2 hours here. Easy by ride share or subway/walk. There’s a lot of history, and the site is massive in terms of ruins and unkept landscape. Perfect April-September.

Particularly beautiful during wintertime to me. It’s cold, but less crowds and everywhere can be picture background. recommended

Exploring the ruins of the Old Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, is a haunting yet enlightening experience. Walking amidst the remnants of what was once a majestic imperial retreat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy mixed with awe. The vastness of the gardens, once adorned with exquisite architecture, lavish pavilions, and tranquil lakes, now lay in ruins, a testament to the ravages of time and history. Yet, amidst the rubble, there is a profound beauty in the enduring resilience of natu

Walking through the vast grounds, I was enchanted by the remnants of ancient buildings, serene lakes, and carefully landscaped gardens. The park's layout beautifully combines elements of Chinese and Western architectural influences, creating a unique and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
