Yuantongsi (South Gate) Review

Yuantong Temple covers an area of more than 60 mu, with a construction area of 19,000 square meters, built with archaeological buildings, Tianwang Palace, Daxiong Palace, Guanyin Pavilion, Tibetan Jinglou and so on. The ancient trees in the temple are towering, two trees are thousands of years old, and the ancient apricot trees with strong and leafy branches are unique in Wujiang's humanistic landscape. The temple building is classical and magnificent, the Buddha statue is solemn, the kind and lifelike, and the characteristics of the Guanyin Daochang of the Lotus Buddha country can be sensed everywhere; the open-air Golden Jade Guanyin and Guanyin Pavilion are all large-scale Guanyin statues in the south of the Yangtze River, which can be comparable to the Putuo Mountain Guanyin and the Lushan Golden Peak; Classical garden architecture, small bridges and flowing water, lotus fountains, rockery caves, beautiful scenery, like a fairyland, long history, humanistic landscape is extremely rich. Combining religion and culture, it is a famous temple in Jiangnan with a thousand years of history.

The history of Yuantong Temple is called "Yuantong Temple". It was built in the late Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing periods. It has been renamed Yuantong Temple after several times. When it was restored and rebuilt in 2001, it was renamed Yuantong Temple. There are three stone arches in the front square, and the three words "Yuantong Temple" in the middle, which is a famous Taiwanese master of Chinese studies Nan Huaijin handwriting. 圆通寺，以此为名的庙宇，全国共十几所，华东的这所就是指吴江的圆通寺。寺庙在市区西郊，在朱家圩和曲尺湾之间，占地近百亩，西依仲英大道南段，东与吴模小区相接，北靠体育路，南临江厍路，俗称“大庙”、“吴模庙”、“十样景庙”。 朱红色的屋宇，代表佛教色彩的黄色墙壁，面南背北，整组建筑非常醒目。在初冬暖阳清风中，铃声叮当。迎面是檐牙高啄，斗拱层叠的石牌坊，横楣上有书法家南怀谨的手迹：圆通寺。左右石柱镌一对联：焚呗钟声寂寂惶惶观自在，江枫渔火尘尘刹刹见如来。字里行间透着佛语禅意。真是不需此行，在佛音钟鼓声中，见识了园子里的千年银杏树，话说是当年徐达下马拴与此树，历经了所谓的沧海桑田，如今依然挺拔身姿～寺院内还有一尊汉白玉观音，临湖而立，极其端庄大气。我佛慈悲，渡危渡难，愿众生平等！
