Romantic Hotels in Jiangsu, China

I stayed at the Nanfang Hotel's Building 8, 'Yingjie,' in Suzhou over the weekend. It was just renovated late last year with a new 'Neo-Chinese' decor. As you enter, to your left is a long, open wardrobe and a luggage rack, which were very convenient. Then there's a separate wet and dry vanity area and a bathtub, with a sliding glass door separating the room from the washroom. The room itself was quite spacious, with a round table and a sofa by the window. Outside, lush rockeries and greenery provided a refreshing view, and being able to open the window for ventilation was especially pleasant this time of year. The toiletries were L'Occitane, and there was even a Pantene hair essence capsule with the hairdryer. As for the bedding, the mattress was on the firmer side, so comfort will vary for different people. What was hard to understand were some of the renovation details. The grout lines in the tiles were sloppily done, a clear departure from what you'd expect in a five-star hotel. This was even more noticeable under the sink drain. I'd suggest the hotel add a trash can there; it would both hide the flaw and be convenient for women to discard small items when using the sink. The breakfast overall was good. I recommend the 'red soup noodles with braised pork,' which had an authentic flavor. The fresh pork pan-fried buns were also surprisingly delicious – slightly sweet and very juicy. The hotel's location truly lives up to its five-star reputation. Situated on Shiquan Street, it's incredibly convenient for getting around. Wangshi Garden is right across from the hotel entrance on Chengqiao Road, so you can visit early to avoid the crowds. Plus, many popular eateries on Shiquan Street don't have queues before noon. The surrounding streets like Fenghuang Street, Wuqueqiao Street, Cuku Alley, Chaiyuan, and the small alleys behind Shiquan Street are also perfect for a city walk. Shiquan Street is bustling, but as soon as you enter the hotel, it becomes wonderfully quiet. If you're tired from exploring, you can return to the hotel to stroll around Jiang Weiguo's former residence or other ancient buildings and rock gardens, and enjoy the peaceful, serene atmosphere. If you want to explore the urban area of Suzhou in a short time, Nanfang Hotel is a five-star recommendation.

I brought my family here for a birthday celebration. The hotel arranged a birthday setup and gave us a small cake, which was delicious! **Appearance:** The cruise ship design is quite unique, and right across from it is the Gate of the Orient. It's lovely to take a stroll on the boardwalk in the evening. **Interior:** The hotel is a bit older, so some rooms might have a slight odor, but the staff promptly addressed it, which was decent. The sanitation facilities were clean. **Service:** The staff, including those in the breakfast restaurant, Zhenlu Yi Hotpot, and the doormen, were all incredibly warm and polite. (The coffee bar staff, however, were a bit lacking.) **Breakfast:** It's a mix of Chinese and Western options. While the variety isn't huge, everything tasted great, especially the Suzhou-style Aozao noodles! They were so good I had two bowls! There wasn't much fruit though. **Toiletries:** They use BORGESE products, with an orange scent, which was very pleasant.

Staying at this amazing ocean-themed family hotel with my little one was a 10/10 experience! As soon as we walked in, we were captivated by the huge cruise ship bow, and ocean elements were everywhere in the lobby. The kids' amenities in the room were also fantastic – special toothbrushes, slippers, starfish-shaped soap, and even adorable ocean-themed decorations. My child absolutely loved it. The rooftop playground was a paradise for kids, with so many fun attractions they couldn't stop playing. Plus, there's a beautiful Ferris wheel right next to it. We took a ride and got stunning views of the entire city – perfect for photos! Breakfast also exceeded our expectations; the variety of Chinese and Western options was incredible, and the food was delicious. The entire experience was fantastic, and Michelle at the front desk provided super attentive service. A truly satisfying stay, we'll definitely be back if we get the chance!

Every step offers a new scene that helps you relax and escape the city's hustle and bustle, making for a truly comfortable and pleasant stay. It happened to be our 10th wedding anniversary, and after mentioning it briefly to the front desk, the hotel was incredibly thoughtful and upgraded us for free to a private hot spring courtyard room! The courtyard was quiet and private, and having our own hot spring was serene and romantic – it absolutely set the perfect mood, full of ceremony. The room was clean and tidy, with a warm and comfortable layout, and attention to detail was evident everywhere. The service was gentle and attentive, warm and considerate without being intrusive. The entire experience was superb. From the environment and room type to the heartwarming service, everything was impeccable. It was a truly memorable stay, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. I'll definitely choose this place again next time!

A truly rejuvenating lake-view guesthouse experience, highly recommended! My recent stay in a lake-view room at Azure completely exceeded my expectations! First and foremost, I have to rave about the views. The truly unobstructed lake view lived up to its reputation. Waking up and opening the window revealed a breathtaking panorama of azure blue, with the lake's calm, expansive surface instantly bringing a sense of deep relaxation. The guesthouse's location is incredibly peaceful, far removed from the city's hustle and bustle. Spending the day on the terrace with a cup of tea, and listening to the gentle wind and distant chirping of insects at night – this profound tranquility was utterly healing. Secondly, the service was exceptionally warm and attentive. We arrived late in the evening, and to our surprise, a staff member was waiting for us right at the entrance. He helped us with our luggage and thoroughly explained all the check-in details. His service was enthusiastic and thoughtful throughout, never making us feel like an inconvenience. The room itself was also a delightful surprise. It was well-equipped, and everything was of high quality. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The overall decor perfectly complemented the name 'Azure', creating an atmosphere that was both fresh and inviting. In summary, this was an absolutely perfect stay. Everything, from the breathtaking views and serene environment to the excellent facilities and heartwarming service, was truly faultless. I've already recommended it to my friends, and I will undoubtedly choose to stay here again on my next visit!

It's a great B&B, worth a visit, but hard to say if I'd consider going back. Overall, it was very nice, with amazing scenery and night views. The food was quite exquisite, the room decor was lovely, and the pool had remote-controlled water flow that was quiet and the temperature was comfortable. Service-wise, there weren't any major issues; basic needs were met, such as shuttle service, picking up items, and drop-off at the park. However, compared to top-tier hotels in Nanjing, the difference is noticeable. The service here is adequate, but not proactive enough. Offering things felt a bit stingy. For example, at the Banyan Tree resort, I didn't need to ask anything; the staff rushed over with super enthusiastic service, even smiling when we made eye contact. Here, the staff seemed a bit averted, indicating a difference in professionalism. For instance, I was upgraded several levels of room for free at a high-end hotel, something they couldn't do here due to limited availability. Also, I easily got 10 extra bottles of water elsewhere. They told me to finish my drink before asking for more, so I asked twice more. I also asked if I could have a late check-out because I'm a night owl and really can't get up, but they said no. Other places, however, gave me an hour of free check-out. They also had a small bar of soap, which was supposed to be a gimmick. I specifically asked for it, and they didn't mind if they didn't give it to me, but it felt a bit stingy. It gave the impression that the owner was trying to control costs, especially since the other places were 70% more expensive. I can't expect perfection. Then there was the cleanliness. I saw cobwebs near the lights in some public restrooms, and the sink was a little dirty when I entered. However, the rooms were very clean. Unfortunately, these details made me feel a little disappointed, so I'd give it a 4.5/5. Overall, I'd recommend the experience. Weather is very important, I think. There are 17 rooms in total, and the stay was good. Other aspects depend on personal preference. PS: The complimentary Pearl Spring doesn't include zoo admission, so don't bother going.
