Romantic Hotels in Hokkaido, Japan

JR Inn Hakodate is conveniently located right behind Hakodate Station. From the JR Hakodate exit, turn right and walk straight, you'll see the JR Inn sign, and the hotel is just 20 meters away. The rooms are a bit small; the 1.4-meter double room felt a little cramped for two people, and we had to open our luggage on the bed. It has a private bathroom and shower. There's a large public bath on the 12th floor, which is better than nothing. After a bath, free coffee and tea are available, and there's also a lounge area where you can enjoy views of Mount Hakodate and the Hakodate Morning Market below. You can catch a bus to the Mount Hakodate observation deck directly in front of JR Hakodate Station. It can get crowded, so expect to queue. A one-way ticket costs 700 JPY. The Red Brick Warehouses and Hachiman-zaka Slope are within walking distance.

Excellent hotel. The rooftop infinity pool, hot spring, terrace bath, sea breeze, and Hakodate night view were incredibly relaxing. I used the baths both in the evening and in the morning. There's a scenic bar lounge that offers coffee. The room had a private washer/dryer and a microwave. The breakfast offered was great value, allowing you to choose a restaurant at the adjacent seafood market. However, I didn't opt for it because I wanted to try catching squid and grilling it, and also having crab shabu-shabu – this morning market is truly the best for seafood. Disposable slippers were provided, which many Japanese hotels don't offer.

My room on the 22nd floor offered fantastic views; I was even lucky enough to witness a blood moon. In the evenings, I found dining options to be scarce if heading towards the TV Tower. However, if you turn left upon exiting the hotel, you'll discover many fantastic eateries, especially Nemuro Hanamaru Sushi, which is absolutely worth queuing for. Peking University is approximately 2 km away, and a Didi International ride cost 65 RMB. There's also a small convenience store to the left of the hotel that sells packaged bananas.

Beautiful hotel with a moor onsen spa and sauna. However it is a 15-min walk from the station and shuttle service is limited. Lots of weddings and royal visit at this resort. Twin Room is spacious and comfortable. Walking distance to M fast food chain next door and Aeon shopping nearby. I would highly recommend it.

Location of the hotel is quite alright. Walking distance from Sapporo JR station less than a km. If you have heavy luggage then it would be an adventure rolling the bags along the sidewalk. - if convenient is your ultimate goal, booked hotels near or opposite of the station. - and if you want to book the hotel, it is quite a walking distance to the nearest station (non-JR). - (bonus tip) have a go at their Japanese breakfast (22nd floor), it’s worth it. + view of Sapporo. - it is an old hotel, the toilet can be a little on the smelly side. But if your preference is to stay longer, the price was not too bad for a 4 stars. - since it’s autumn nearing to winter, better to use Go taxi to get to all the attractions areas, if you are not used to the windy chill.

The location is excellent. From Hakodate Airport, it's only four bus stops to the JR station, and the hotel is right across the street. It's super convenient to take the JR from here to all the attractions. I booked two nights and the high-floor room offered fantastic views, allowing us to watch the fireworks every night at 6 PM during Christmas. Downstairs, there's a Daikoku drug store where you get 20% off if you spend over 10,000 yen, which felt like a good deal. For breakfast, you can head to the morning market across the street; the seafood is incredibly fresh, and the cantaloupe is absolutely delicious! If I ever come back to Hakodate, this would still be my top choice for accommodation.

The price differs a lot when i chose different dates, just 1 day earlier made a lot of difference (S$200+ to S$80+). So plan ahead to get best price for this hotel. The room is good enough, with private bath at another level but we didn’t get to go cus we were too tired. Free parking is a bonus! The restaurant (福寿司) nearby serves good sushi!

Our stay at Cross Hotel Sapporo was nothing short of amazing! We are a group of 5 & were traveling around Hokkaido, starting & ending off in Sapporo. We emailed the hotel to request if they could store some luggage for us till we return, as well as help us with restaurant reservations, and the staff were super prompt & extremely nice to accede to our requests. We even got upgraded to bigger rooms when we returned! We always felt so welcomed by the staff who were very attentive & so willing to help us. Needless to say rooms were very comfortable & onsen was great too (equipped with Dyson hairdryers). Location is also good, accessible via an underground passage all the way from the Sapporo station to Marumi Coffee Stand (so convenient cos it was raining when we arrived). Thank you so much for the great experience, I will gladly return to Cross Hotel!

Staying at Dai‑ichi Takimotokan was an unforgettable highlight of my trip. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt welcoming and serene, perfectly blending traditional Japanese hospitality with modern comfort. The onsen facilities were truly exceptional—spacious, beautifully maintained, and offering a variety of baths with different temperatures and mineral compositions. Soaking while gazing out at the natural surroundings created a sense of deep relaxation that stayed with me long after.  The staff were attentive and warm, always ready to assist with a smile, yet never intrusive. Their thoughtful service made the experience feel personal and genuine. My room was comfortable and well‑appointed, with a calming view that added to the overall sense of retreat. Meals were another highlight: beautifully presented dishes showcasing fresh local ingredients, each course balancing flavor and artistry. What impressed me most was how the entire property seemed designed to encourage rest and renewal. Whether enjoying the baths, savoring dinner, or simply unwinding in the lounge, I felt completely at ease. Dai‑ichi Takimotokan is more than just a place to stay—it’s a destination that embodies the spirit of relaxation and hospitality. I would gladly return and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone visiting Noboribetsu.

🏨 A hotel right by Lake Toya, offering stunning views of the lake from the window. During the day, you can gaze at Mount Yotei under clear blue skies and white clouds. At night, it's perfect for stargazing and watching fireworks – truly picturesque! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The main reason I chose this hotel was the shuttle service to New Chitose Airport. It's a 2.5-hour journey for 1500 JPY per person, saving you the hassle and effort of lugging luggage around with multiple transfers. A direct trip, offering excellent value for money! (Note: There's only one shuttle per day, so remember to book in advance!) 👍🏻 The stay was indeed very good, so if your budget allows, I'd definitely recommend it! 😝 🍃 **Environment**: The hotel lobby is spacious and grand, with dedicated seating for guests to enjoy the floor-to-ceiling window views. 🏠 **Facilities**: The room was very large, with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. While the furniture wasn't brand new, it was very clean. 🌹 **Service**: The front desk staff (a young man) provided excellent service. He was enthusiastic, proactive, and gave very detailed explanations. He even threw in a few Chinese phrases occasionally, which made me feel very welcome! 🤣 🍣 **Breakfast and Dinner**: The variety of food was extensive, with many options, and the taste was good – though my stomach capacity wasn't enough to try everything! [Crying-laughing emoji] Dinner requires entry during your reserved time slot, while breakfast is open throughout the designated hours. Expect a wait for a table during peak times for both. ♨️ **Hot Spring**: There's a sauna, an open-air bath, and indoor pools. The open-air bath offers better ventilation and allows you to admire the starry sky – absolutely amazing! [Strong emoji] The hotel also offers personalized services, such as private hot springs for couples, at a reasonable price. 🛍️ **Shopping**: There's a souvenir shop on the hot spring street with quite a good selection of items worth browsing. If you have time, take a walk along the lake; you might discover some pleasant surprises! 😄 🚌 **Transportation**: There's a bus stop near the hotel with direct routes to Showa-Shinzan and Bear Ranch. The fare is 440 JPY per person, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. You can also pick up discount coupons for attractions at the hotel lobby, a 10% discount is always a nice bonus! 😊 📌 **Fireworks Display Times**: Annually from April to October, from 8:45 PM to 9:15 PM.
