Excellent, absolutely fantastic! The room is quite spacious, with a separate bedroom and other areas, plus a small sofa. The 14th floor has a large public bath, and the 15th floor boasts a rooftop pool with views of both mountains and the sea! (Remember to bring your swimsuit!) The breakfast is also amazing, with tempura, seafood bowls, Oita kamameshi, unlimited spicy mentaiko, and even sparkling wine. The front desk staff can speak Chinese, English, and Japanese, and they offer luggage storage. The lobby has a very stylish design. Plus, there are many super affordable public bathhouses nearby.

This is a quintessential Japanese onsen ryokan. We enjoyed a delicious wagyu kaiseki dinner and breakfast in our room, though the dessert was a bit simple. We stayed for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by both meals. The ryokan has four different communal baths (onsen) for men and women, which we made sure to enjoy every morning and evening. Soaking in the open-air bath while gazing at the sky was incredibly relaxing.

The hotel itself is a bit older, and you can definitely feel its age in some areas of the property. That said, it still maintains a certain traditional charm. One thing to note is that the location isn’t the easiest to access on foot—you’ll really need a car to get around comfortably, especially if you plan to explore the surrounding area.
What truly stood out during my stay was the restaurant staff. They were exceptionally helpful, attentive, and warm throughout my visit. Their hospitality made the dining experience one of the highlights of the hotel. The meals were well-prepared and thoughtfully presented, adding a special touch to each day.
Overall, while the facilities could use a bit of updating and the location is best suited for travelers with a vehicle, the kindness and service of the restaurant staff made the stay worthwhile.
The entire hotel has a Japanese-style design, and you have to take off your shoes and store them in the lobby upon entering. The hot spring is on the top floor and features 7 family baths, available on a first-come, first-served basis. I'd heard good things about the dinner at the downstairs restaurant, but by the time we checked in, it was already fully booked for the night and they only serve guests with reservations. So, if you plan to dine there, make sure to book in advance! We drove here, but it seems very convenient if you take the JR, as the hotel is only about 100 meters from Beppu Station.
My stay at Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa was truly wonderful. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, offering stunning views of Beppu Bay. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist, making the experience feel personal and relaxing. The hot springs and spa facilities were exceptional, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety of local and international dishes, all fresh and delicious. Overall, it’s an excellent resort for both leisure and comfort — I would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it's more convenient if you're driving. We booked breakfast and dinner, and the food was absolutely amazing; you definitely have to try it if you stay here. My favorite part was the private hot spring in the room. I'd come back again if I get the chance.
Sekiya Resort is a masterclass in details. A gem for any archirecture enthusiasts- brutalist architecture is softened by thoughtful artistic touches, like the sculptures found at every lift landing. Upon arrival, the reception greets you with soaring glass walls that frame the entirety of Beppu below. My stay was made even more special by a high-floor corner room—the sea and city views were simply magnificent. There is nothing quite like the luxury of a private in-room onsen where you can soak and take in the sprawling city vistas in total serenity. Shuttle bus service is avaliable with advance reservation. The dinner and breakfast were an absolute delight. Good quality, well thought out menu deserves a special mention here. Highly recommended.
The room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view.

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop or JR station. The owner was very friendly and provided guidance on how to use each onsen. Any questions were welcome. There were two other Japanese families staying that day, making us three groups. We all took turns enjoying the onsen, eliminating the need for competition and allowing for leisurely enjoyment. The water was very hot, and there were two large onsen rooms with ample space. Dinner was delicious, with the A5 Wagyu beef grilled in the grill. The mushroom dishes were surprisingly tasty. You don't get such a rich texture in Hong Kong; they're usually dry after grilling, but the mushrooms here were very juicy and springy. Beer and soda are available for a fee, and the prices are reasonable. The room is a two-story stand-alone building with a living room on the lower level and a tatami room on the upper level. There are two toilets, and the space is clean and spacious. Yukata, bath towels, and disposable towels are provided. It's very complete. The owner has a beautiful variety of flowers and plants, so please enjoy them. I highly recommend staying here. It's a great value.

Our room is a two-story independent house. It is very spacious, clean and comfortable, and fully equipped. It has a private hot spring and a high degree of privacy. YYy3Fukuoka is hotter than ever this year. After interacting with locals, I realized that although it was my first time to visit Fukuoka, it was easier and easier to get around than I imagined. I knew very early on that I wanted to include the suburbs and Yufuin in my itinerary, and I wanted to stay there for one night. I was debating whether I should soak in hot springs in the summer and find a suitable accommodation for one person, so I found this B&B. It’s true that it’s not close to the station with your luggage, and it’s a bit hard in the summer. You can soak in the outdoor hot springs in the summer, and watch the stars, which are hard to capture on your phone. I went there once in the morning and once in the evening. After putting up the sign, it became a private soup. I like the sound of creaking templates, the exquisite breakfast boxes, and buying small things near the front desk. The boss couple are very hospitable, attentive and thoughtful, and the breakfast is delicious. I read the reviews and said I must order it, and I thought so too! Make sure to buy more snacks for dinner. Many shops on Yufuin Street close one after another at 5 pm local time. Plan your itinerary well. If you want to see more attractions, you can go to the nearby Beppu to see the hot springs together, or just chill in Yufuin. Very happy. When leaving, you can have your luggage delivered to the station. In this way, you can slowly walk to Jinlin Lake in your free time, and then eat slowly all the way back to the station hahahaha. Traveling is about experiencing❤

GGuest UserThe room was spacious and came with a private onsen. Perched halfway up the mountain, the views were beautiful. If you don't have a car, you can book the shuttle, but be aware that the pick-up times are infrequent. The staff were friendly. Dinner was just okay, but since it was inconvenient to go back to the city, we ended up eating almost all our meals there as part of a half-board package.
