This was the hotel I was most looking forward to on this trip, and we stayed for two nights. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. During the summer, it cost over 7,000 yen, including breakfast for two. The room was a bit small (the bath towel was on the bed because there was no other place to put it). It didn't have a balcony, and I regretted not booking a room with one (though it would have been even more expensive). The hotel is good for relaxing, but transportation is truly inconvenient. Especially on the last night, waiting for a taxi from Shimoda Port was maddening. And that evening (Saturday), we couldn't find any restaurants around Shimoda Port that didn't require reservations; most were closed. We almost went hungry! The various paid experiences at the hotel were quite good; we tried sea fishing and night viewing of fireflies, both of which required a taxi to Shimoda Port. The nearby aquarium is also worth a visit. The outdoor pool, which closes at 6 PM, we didn't even get to use. The service at resort hotels is generally good, but at this summer price, it really isn't good value for money. The nearby beach is very small (see last picture). It didn't look suitable for swimming, so although this hotel is close to the sea, it's only good for viewing it, not the kind of resort I imagined where you could stroll on the beach and swim in the sea directly. The path from the hotel to the pool is beautiful, and there are designated times and places for setting off fireworks; thankfully, there were hot springs to help us unwind.

Hotel CLAD offers an amazing stay with stunning views of Mount Fuji, especially from the rooms and onsen areas. Waking up to such a clear, unobstructed view was truly the highlight of the trip. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the view, quality, space, and experience you get, making it excellent value for money. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, with large windows that really let you enjoy the scenery. The view from lobby is crazy beautiful. It’s also just next to Gotemba premium outlets! The private onsen is a big plus—perfect for relaxing in privacy while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Overall, Hotel CLAD combines great views, comfort, and affordability, and is an excellent choice for a relaxing stay in Gotemba. Highly recommended. I would like to commend Rai for her help with my last minute bus booking to Shinjuku. She was super helpful and patient. Expect great customer service from their staff.

The sea view is unbeatable, and it's a 5-6 minute walk from the station. They offer a shuttle service to the station upon checkout, by appointment. A centipede ran into my room... but they changed my room when I requested it, which was fine. I stayed for three days, and the breakfast was decent. The service was typical Japanese, meaning you couldn't really find any fault with it. The biggest surprise was on the day of checkout: there was a huge typhoon in Izu, all trains were stopped. While we were feeling helpless at the station, a hotel front desk staff member arrived! They told us that because we had previously booked a shuttle, they were taking us to the larger Izu-Kogen station! I was so touched! That's truly Japanese service, solving an urgent problem! Overall, it was really good!

We are going to Mt Fuji so chose this hotel which is have the best value with both stay and the public onsen. The service staff is polite and welcoming although not good command in English. The onsen have a silky feel, but has limited number of pax to enjoy the onsen. There are eateries around so don't need to worry for meals. There have limited car park on the hotel, but have ample space at car park 2 and 3.

The seaview room could watch the sunrise from the balcony. I turned my alarm just to watch the sun rised from the ocean. The buffet dinner and breakfast was great. Dinner buffet provided Italian wine which was very great. The breakfast we could customize the sashimi rice bowl which was wonderful. Although the dining area was a bit crowded but the space was fine enough.

Facilities: The hotel clearly shows its age, giving off a 'dreamcore' vibe. From the lobby to the room design and style, it felt like stepping back into 80s-90s Japan. The facilities are comprehensive, making it very suitable for families. Cleanliness: Very clean, nothing to fault. Environment: Located on an uphill slope, surrounded by residential areas, it's very quiet. You can also see the ocean horizon from the room, which is beautiful. Service: The service is very Japanese and thorough, they try their best to meet your requests. The front desk staff's English is also good, and they explain the hotel's facilities and restaurants in detail. Food: The buffet at the restaurant is quite good. Summary: A very satisfying stay.

A really nice resort hotel. The room was spacious, and the private onsen bath was very clean. The peculiar smell was likely from the tatami mats. We had the hotel's set menu for breakfast but didn't have dinner at the hotel. The supermarket next to Izu Kogen Station offers abundant sashimi, enough to eat your fill. The photos show the places we visited during our stay, and it was all very relaxing. Having seen some less favorable reviews, let me share my own experience. The hotel's occupancy is highly seasonal, so there might not be many staff members, but they all provided attentive service. During our stay, the station pick-up and drop-off service was always well-arranged. When I'm on vacation, I prefer to relax and not be disturbed, so I opted out of daily room cleaning. I've stayed at some older Japanese-style hotels, similar to those in areas like Shikoku's Oboke, and this level of service is pretty typical. Of course, perhaps I just haven't visited enough Japanese resort hotels to generalize. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. Don't set your expectations too high, but it delivers on all the essentials for a relaxing getaway.

Absolutely five stars!!! Excellent service and amazing pool side view. Both dinner and breakfast are perfect!! They provide shuttle buses but the timing is not good for me. It’s only around 10 minutes walk from nearest station. So the location is not a big problem for me.

I decided to make a reservation on a whim, and although it seemed like they had trouble getting a reservation, the front desk staff were very kind and I was able to stay there without any problems. There was a wide selection of drinks and snacks in the lounge, including local products, which was great. The rooms were also very clean and well-maintained, and the views were great. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I have the opportunity.

The Fuji Speedway Hotel brought me an unforgettable experience. Located right by the Fuji Speedway with stunning Mount Fuji views, this hotel is perfect for car enthusiasts and travelers seeking luxury. The service was exceptional—staff were kind, friendly, and most spoke excellent English, making communication a breeze for non-Japanese speakers. Check-in was smooth, and the team was always ready to assist with a smile. The rooms were modern and comfortable, offering great views of the racetrack or Mount Fuji. I loved the motorsport-themed touches, like car-inspired decor, which added character without being overdone. The highlight for me was the circuit driving experience near the hotel. For an extra fee (around $100 for three laps, requiring an international driving permit), I got to drive on the track—a thrilling first for someone with no prior circuit experience! It was well-organized and an absolute must for adrenaline junkies. The onsen spa and indoor pool were relaxing, and dining at TROFEO Italian was a treat, with fresh dishes and scenic views. The only downside is the remote location, so a car or the hotel’s shuttle from Gotemba is handy for exploring. Overall, the outstanding service and unique driving experience made this stay memorable.

GGuest UserWe managed to book the family suite we had our hearts set on, and the ocean views from the two large windows were absolutely breathtaking. The hotel boasts a charming retro Showa-era ambiance; despite renovations, its historical character shines through everywhere. We only had a chance to visit one of the public baths, and the outdoor bath there offered a truly spectacular view. We also booked a private onsen, where you could enjoy soaking while indulging in ice cream. We had the second dinner seating, so some dishes were already finished. I highly recommend making your own kaisen-don (seafood rice bowl) with ingredients like tuna, trout, and sweet shrimp, and then pouring dashi broth over it to turn it into chazuke. After dinner, you can explore the game corner and KTV, but do note that playing games and karaoke are not free. The hotel itself is quite expansive, so I recommend taking some time to explore all its corners. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment!

11881736****The service here exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly polite, greeting everyone with a smile and a bow upon entering and leaving. Since I checked in quite early, I had to wait about half an hour for my room, but they proactively offered me complimentary access to the executive lounge for the day as compensation. The facilities are very new, and the breakfast, though leaning Western, was quite rich compared to other hotels in Japan, offering great value for money. The only downside is the somewhat remote location. Although there's a shuttle bus, it only runs once an hour, so if you miss it, you'll need to take a taxi, which costs around 3300 JPY.

GGuest UserBeautiful onsen — our favorite stay in Japan with my family! The traditional breakfast was delicious with a very large selection of dishes. The rooms are gorgeous, quiet, and spacious — and everything was exceptionally clean. The cleaning crew truly does an amazing job. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, making us feel warmly welcomed. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station, and having a washer and dryer available for guests was a big plus. Highly recommended — we would love to stay here again!

SShenmedoubujiaoshiThe Dormy Inn is super conveniently located, just a 5-minute walk from Mishima Station. On the way, you'll pass a Lawson convenience store and numerous restaurants. The hotel service was quite good; upon our noon arrival, we stored our luggage at the front desk, and the staff enthusiastically offered to take it straight to our room. I even color-coded my luggage to distinguish it from my friends', but they still delivered it to the wrong room! Oh well, haha. The lobby offers complimentary hot and cold green tea, sencha, and coffee machines. The 12th floor boasts an onsen with stunning Mt. Fuji views! Laundry facilities are free to use, with dryers costing around 10 RMB for a 20-minute cycle. In the evenings, the onsen provides complimentary ramen and popsicles, and Yakult is available in the mornings. Our room also offered a Mt. Fuji view, with the Shinkansen and JR train tracks running right below the hotel. Even with trains passing all night long, the window soundproofing was excellent. However, our room had such a strong, foul odor that I dreaded going in. We stayed two nights, and I had to pinch my nose every single time. I initially considered asking for a room change or deodorizing service, but I was too exhausted from sightseeing to bother. I truly hope no one else gets stuck with such a smelly room! The stench was so bad it gave me a headache... I strongly suspect some inconsiderate guests brought a pet into the room.

GGuest UserThe family booked a triple room, the boss adjusted it to 205, twin beds plus tatami, the room boss, living in 5-6 people is no problem. There is a kitchen. Free drinks in the lobby on the first floor, and it is very pleasant to sit and play games at night. From Izu Plateau Station to the hotel, you can make an appointment to pick up or take a taxi. The local road is narrow and it is all uphill and downhill. It is too inconvenient to drag your luggage. Quiet surroundings, you can see the sea from a distance

CChuchuyoumeijingBooked this hotel to see the Atami Fireworks Festival, and it was pretty good value. Since our room didn't have a sea view, the front desk gave us two tickets to watch the fireworks from the rooftop. The room was clean, just a bit small. Slippers were reusable, but they provided disposable towels, two per person, along with skincare products and hair oil. The stay included breakfast and dinner for two, which was enough to fill us up, and featured some local specialties like Atami pudding and ice cream. Getting a taxi was difficult; we needed help from the front desk (some staff weren't very helpful; they said they'd call a taxi for us but didn't, so we ended up taking the hotel shuttle to Atami Station to catch one).
