Taking a hot air balloon ride is one of Bagan's must-see experiences. From a high altitude, you can overlook the ancient city with more than 2,000 temples and pagodas, as well as the Bagan Plain. Especially when the sun rises, the scene of the Thousand Pagodas and the hot air balloons is very shocking. The main thing to note is that during the rainy season from April to October every year, hot air balloons cannot fly, so please make travel plans in advance.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

The Ruixi Palace Pagoda is located west of Liangwu Town and on the south bank of the Irrawaddy River. It was completed in 1102 AD. It is the oldest temple in Bagan, and it is also a building made of stones. It creates the classic style of the local pagoda shape, which is the prototype of Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. There are a Buddha tooth and some Buddha bones in the Ruixi Palace Pagoda, and there are many local people who worship here. Before coming to the temple, you need to take off your shoes and walk into a 100-meter long corridor. There are many small vendors on both sides of the promenade, selling some handicrafts, and occasionally encounter a few little monks in red robes. Go to the end of the promenade, the names of the donors and the amount of donations are written on the walls on both sides. When you step out of the promenade, you can see the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, like a miniature version of Shwedagon Pagoda. There are many pigeons on the edge of the tower, a peaceful atmosphere. Every morning, many Buddhist believers come here to pray, and the face of devout worship is impressive. The main body of the pagoda is painted with red lacquer, with a layer of gold foil attached to the outside, and the surrounding instruments and sculptures are gilded. The Ruixi Palace Tower is surrounded by 53 sculptures, including a lion, a macara (an animal that resembles a crocodile), and a toad. The base of the stupa consists of a three-tiered platform, and its treads are green wooden boards carved with traditional theatrical scenes, but it is not currently possible to climb the pagoda. It is said that buying a piece of gold foil and sticking it on the relief under the tower will bring blessings. The side hall outside the pagoda has uniform red lacquer pillars, and the top is decorated with gilt gold pagoda. A small Buddhist chapel on the southeast side of the pagoda is dedicated to 37 patron saints of the Kingdom of Bagan. The whole temple is particularly shining in the afternoon sun. There is also a small pool on the ground in front of the pagoda. You can see the reflection of the canopy on the top of the pagoda in the water, which is very interesting. In addition, a side hall in the backyard of the temple has a beautiful parquet tile floor, which is a good place to rest in the shade. After sunset, the pagoda will light up, and the dazzling Ruixi Palace Pagoda under the stars has a unique flavor.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

Ananda Temple is located in the east of Bagan's ancient city wall. It was built in 1105. It is a relatively complete and beautiful Buddhist temple in Bagan. It is famous for its symmetry and balance. The architectural craftsmanship of the pagoda in the middle of the temple greatly surpasses the previous pagoda, and incorporates a special style. There are many tourists and locals visiting Ananda Temple. Outside the temple, you can often see a market, with a wide variety of sand paintings, wood carvings, postcards and clothing, as well as drink stalls, which are very lively. Ananda Temple is the culmination of ancient architecture. The whole temple is square and covers an area of nearly 100 acres. It is a completely symmetrical shape. There is a long corridor on each side leading to the middle courtyard. Take off your shoes before entering the temple. In the middle of the temple is the Ananda Pagoda, which is about 51 meters high. The white towers are stacked in layers. The Indian-style minarets like corn ears are covered with gold leaf and inlaid with countless dazzling jewels. Magnificent and dazzling. On the outer wall of the stupa, there are thousands of Buddha statues and painted pottery reliefs of the Buddha's life story. Although the green background can only be seen slightly after the wind and rain, the process of the World Honored One's ascetic practice, meditation and complete enlightenment and becoming a Buddha can still be seen. Around the main tower, there are many small towers, Buddha statues and statues of various animals and mythical beasts. The base of the pagoda is an Indian-style square Buddha cave. There are high gates in the south, south, and northwest. Inside each gate is a standing golden Buddha with a height of about ten meters and different postures. The two statues in the north and south are the original golden Buddhas, while the two in the east and west were damaged and rebuilt after the fire. The golden Buddha in the south is breathtaking. It is said that when you look at it from a distance, the big Buddha smiles very kindly and kindly, but when you go to its feet and look up, the Dharma image becomes very solemn, which makes you involuntarily worship. Every morning, you can see many locals and pilgrims from all walks of life come here to worship and lay flowers, filled with a pious atmosphere. At night, the lights will illuminate the golden tower top, the golden light is bright and can be seen from a distance, which is a major symbol of Bagan. There are also double-layered corridors in the tower, and there are double-layered windows for daylighting. There are thousands of Buddhist niches on the walls of the cloister, offering golden statues of different sizes, which are worth watching carefully. Outside the pagoda is an open inner courtyard, where you can admire the resplendent spires of the pagoda up close.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

Damayangji Pagoda is a relatively large pagoda in the Bagan pagoda group, and it is also an outstanding representative of brick pagoda architecture. This red brick temple can be seen from all directions in Bagan. Dhammayanggita is known as the "Pyramid" of Bagan. The arches of the tower are interlocked and have a unique shape. The windows in the cloisters let in natural light, illuminating the interior of the stupa. The history of Damayangji Stupa is said to be a tower of brutality. The builder, King Narathu (the 45th King of Bagan Dynasty 1167-1170), was extremely brutal. Damayangji was also built to atone for the sins of his father Alaungsithu and brother Min-Shin-Saw. The requirements for building the pagoda are very strict. If the cracks between the bricks are not tight enough, the fingers of the craftsmen will be cut off, so the pagoda is still equipped with torture instruments at that time.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

The pagoda is an early building and is located next to an important transportation pier in Bagan. It is one of the burial sites of the four shadow bones of the Buddha's relic. It was built by Anawrathta during his reign. The pagoda is golden as a whole, similar to the bell shape of the stupa, and is a main place for worship. The view from the top of the tower is relatively wide, overlooking the entire Ayeyarwady River Bay. It is also a good place to watch the sunrise and sunset. There are fewer people, and the sun shines on the tower, sometimes showing a silver color.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

The temple is located less than 800 meters southwest of Ananda Temple. It was built in the 12th century by the then king Alaungsithu. It is one of the earlier buildings within a building in Bagan, and it is also the tallest of all buildings. Together with Ananda Temple, it is called "Bagan Twin Pagodas". The tower is divided into five floors, with monks living on the first and second floors. The third floor is for monks to meditate, the library is on the fourth floor, and the fifth floor is for Buddha statues. There is a huge brick Buddha statue in the tower, and there are also stone carvings in Pali script, all of which have their own unique style. Tourists can only visit it on the ground floor because it is a listed building, and it used to be a good place to watch the sunrise.Myanmar · Bagan

It is said to be a younger ancient temple in Bagan. The Xilong Minluo Temple is 46 meters high and 43 meters long, and its architectural form is similar to that of the Sulamani Pagoda. The temple consists of two stacked huge cubes, and a huge spire stands on the cube on the second floor. There are four-faced Buddhas on the upper and lower floors, facing the four entrances. Shwe Sandu Pagoda is a taller pagoda in Bagan that allows tourists to climb. It is an ideal place to see the City of Wanta, with a panoramic view of the Wanta. It is very crowded at sunset, and it is a must-see for almost all tourists to Bagan to enjoy the sunset. Ruishandu Pagoda is an elegant white pyramid-style pagoda with five steps, which is a good place to watch the sunrise and sunset. After reaching the top, looking around, you can see the temples of Bagan. This feeling of waiting for some kind of miracle with people from all over the world is wonderful and warm, and it is fascinating.Myanmar · Nyaung-U

It is the founding pagoda, the prototype of modern pagodas in Myanmar, and one of the four most famous pagodas in Myanmar. It is not only the largest pagoda in the Bagan area, but also the only pagoda built of stone in the Bagan pagoda complex. It has a long history and is the first Burmese-style pagoda. I like it here very much!

Myanmar's ancient city, in the early morning of Bagan, watching the sunrise over the city of pagodas is sacred and beautiful! If you can stay a few more days, you can really go to different places to watch the sunrise from different angles, with different scenery, in short, it is very shocking!

The tower is made of large red bricks, which are so tightly connected that even a needle cannot be inserted. Although Bagan is a plain, there are no tall buildings and many tall towers, so the sunrise and sunset are very beautiful.

Built in the 3rd century, the Bupaya Pagoda was originally the oldest pagoda in Bagan. The pagoda we see now was rebuilt after the 1975 earthquake. The Bupaya Pagoda is shaped like a gourd. Legend has it that when Thamuddarit, the first king of the Bagan Plain, ruled the country, he encountered five monsters, including tigers, flying rats, boars, big birds and a big gourd, which were eating people. It was not until Prince Pyusawhti took the magic bowl to subdue the five monsters and built a pagoda where the monsters were conquered. The Bupaya Pagoda was built on the bank of the Irrawaddy River. We stayed here for more than 10 minutes. The sun was really scorching. During lunch, KOKO suggested that we go to the river to avoid the midday sun. He said that he had a friend who was driving a boat and could take us to the river to blow the wind and take a rest. However, we had to pay. We were exhausted and followed KOKO to the pergola by the river without thinking much.

The Logananda Pagoda is located on the bank of the Irrawaddy River in southwest Bagan, close to New Bagan. The pagoda was built in 1059 during the reign of King Anawrahta. The pagoda houses a replica of the tooth relic of the Buddha given to Anawrahta by the King of Sri Lanka. With the influence of the early Pagan Dynasty, people from surrounding areas took boats down the river to worship at this temple. It is still used as a place of daily worship, although the pagoda is not large. It is also a great place for tourists to watch the sunset over the Irrawaddy River.

It is very beautiful. You can see the Irrawaddy River from the tower, and you can also see hundreds of pagodas around it. This city is very simple. When you come here, you feel that everything has calmed down. You can feel the charm of Buddhist culture devoutly.

Heard it was possible to climb in the past but not now. Firstly, almost all Buddhist pagodas are not climbable. I was able to climb one pagoda along the river that didn't seem e-bike friendly and further east along the market, but it seems to be manageable now unless it's far from there. However, even without it, it's a beautiful Buddhist pagoda.
