Le Lioran

Nestled within the Cantal volcanic mountains of the French Massif Central, Le Lioran is centered around the Plomb du Cantal peak, creating a unique circular ski terrain. The ski runs radiate along the ancient volcanic crater, with the "Basalt Corridor" intermediate run preserving the hexagonal columnar jointing landscape formed by volcanic eruptions. Among the operating cable cars, the panoramic gondolas are specially equipped with geological observation windows. The volcanic rock village on the mountainside has been converted into an eco-resort, with the wooden chalet complex utilizing basalt foundations and geothermal heating systems. The ski school features a volcanic ash simulation training ground to help students adapt to the unique snow quality. During the off-season, the crater lake offers transparent canoe activities, where guides lead visitors to observe the unique thermophilic sulfur bacteria communities in the water. This mountain resort, which transforms volcanic heritage into an experiential medium, fully preserves the ecological imprints of Quaternary volcanic activity.
