Old Port of Marseille

Old Harbor (La Darse) is the heart and soul of the entire Marseille area, not only because it is the birthplace of Marseille, but also because it was the third-largest port in the world 200 years ago. Old Harbor (La Darse) is surrounded by many historic sites, including Fort Saint-Jean and Fort Saint-Nicolas, which were built during the era of Louis XIV. In addition, Old Harbor (La Darse) is also the center of life and entertainment for the people of Marseille. The area around Old Harbor (La Darse) is a famous dining district, and most of the restaurants at the port serve a famous Marseille delicacy—bouillabaisse. "Old Harbor (La Darse)" is actually not old; it was rebuilt after World War II. However, locals still call it "Old Harbor (La Darse)," likely out of habit and a sense of historical sentiment. Every morning, the fish market here is bustling, and the pier is filled with small fishing boats and yachts, filling the entire harbor with the leisurely atmosphere unique to the south of France. Old Port mirror pavilion IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes's master plan was jointly undertaken by Foster + Partners and French landscape architect Michel Desvigne. A massive, mirror-like viewing pavilion measuring 46 × 22 meters was built here, supported by 8 slender columns, with the edges of the mirror pavilion gradually thinned to reduce visual weight. The polished stainless steel mirror ceiling reflects the surrounding scenery of the old port, as well as the faces of thousands of visitors stopping to admire it, creating a strange beauty. This not only provides a place for visitors to stop and take shelter from the rain or sun, but also allows visitors to become part of the landscape while enjoying the scenery of IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes.Marseille · 16.6 km from Cassis

Chateau d'If

Located on a 3-hectare limestone island 3.5 miles from the old port of Marseille, the Château d'If is a square fortress with a side length of 28 meters. In 1516, King François I of France came here, fully aware of its defensive value, and ordered the construction of a fort here, which is the symbol of Yves: Fort Yves. Chateau Yves has the advantage of natural danger, the defense is extremely tight, and it is almost impossible for prisoners to escape, and Alexandre Dumas is based on the experience of the only two escapees, Father Faria and Edmond Dantès. The world famous book "The Count of Monte Cristo", Château Yves is also famous because of this novel. Today, the cell in Château Yves has deliberately dug a passage according to the layout in the story. The Château d'If was originally an impregnable fortification in Marseille, and later became a national prison, where many princes, descendants of princes and nobles, Protestants, political prisoners, revolutionaries, etc. were imprisoned. The castle's conversion to a prison dates back to 1658, when Louis XIV, in his crackdown on the heretics, turned the Château d'If into a prison for Protestants and criminals. In the 19th century, after the French bourgeois revolution broke out, Château Yves was completely transformed into a prison for the feudal dynasty to suppress political prisoners. Since the first prisoner was held in 1580, the Isle of Yves has imprisoned more than 3,000 people over the centuries.Marseille · 18.6 km from Cassis

French Riviera National Park isn't actually a walled tourist area; it's more like a wild, natural coastal region. Starting from Carango Fjord, limestone mountains jut straight into the azure waters, creating a striking red and white landscape. The hiking trails are winding, requiring some use of hands and feet in sections, but the panoramic views of the bay from higher vantage points are well worth it. The water is crystal clear, perfect for swimming or boating.

Such a pretty place with a lot of interesting boats! Took some great pictures 📸The only downside is that during the night a lot of creepy men hang around the area :(

A very famous ancient building in Cyprus. This place is also a very huge space. The palace itself has a very unique design style. You can also experience some very interesting contents in the Palais Longchamp. It is a very unique building.

Notre-Dame de la Garde Cathedral is the symbol of Marseille. It is built on a hill 150 meters high, from where you can overlook the entire city of Marseille, the port of Marseille, and the scenery of the Mediterranean Sea.

We took our young children to a ranch in the suburbs this weekend. The entire park was covered in flat grass, allowing the kids to run freely. The feed for the calves and lambs was inexpensive, and the kids chased after the lambs, playing happily until they were covered in sweat. The park also had freshly squeezed milk, five yuan a cup, rich and flavorful, as well as freshly baked milk biscuits, incredibly delicious. There were no forced purchases, and the prices were very reasonable. Even adults didn't feel tired after a whole day of fun. It was much more comfortable than going to a crowded amusement park, making it a perfect place to bring young children for a relaxing getaway.

Tickets were issued very quickly, and the local staff just took a picture of the QR code. The castle was very average, and there were many primary and secondary school students traveling, so the experience was relatively poor. There were Chinese instructions, which was quite convenient. The on-site queue to buy tickets was 7 euros, and those with EU residence permits under 26 were free.

In the mid-19th century, the architect Esperandieu was invited to expand the church. The tall dome, colorful marble decorations and wonderful mosaics inside create a magnificent and majestic effect. Unlike other churches, the walls inside the church are decorated with paintings, tarot cards, model ships and war medals donated by believers, and there are even ship models hanging, highlighting the nautical characteristics of Marseille.

The town seems to love this place to relax, have picnics, and take a break from work. It’s a massive walkable area and definitely worth the stroll through if you happen to be in town.
