Reviews: Private tour: San Lorenzo de El Escorial Monastery

Sunny and cold day in February. Our visit to El Escorial exceeded our expectations, an amazing building set in a beautiful town. Our guide was Isabella, very god English, lots of energy and interesting stories and insights which brought the whole visit to life. It really was a tour of the Hapsburg dynasty and the history of Spain at the peak of her colonial powers. The couple of hours flew by and could easily have stayed for longer we were travelling between Madrid and Salamanca and this was a great stop for morning and lunch in town where there are lots of great options. If you get the chance to visit it’s well worth it and try to get Isabella as a guide and you will have a fantastic time.
