Guide Yang is an outstanding tour guide whose service elevated our travel experience to a whole new level. He is not only knowledgeable and provides engaging explanations, but also incredibly thoughtful and considerate. Throughout the trip, he constantly paid attention to everyone's needs, proactively helping with photos and finding the best angles, creating many wonderful memories. His care for the elderly and children was particularly meticulous, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment during the journey. His lively and engaging explanations, incorporating historical stories and local culture, made the attractions more vivid and meaningful. The itinerary was well-planned, with a good balance of pace and relaxation, allowing us to visit all the attractions in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. He was also very good at interacting with tourists, patiently answering all kinds of questions, so we not only learned something new but also felt warmth and care during the trip. Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Highly recommended! The tour includes information about the wall, an entrance ticket, and roundtrip transportation from Dongzhimen Station. Please note! A guide will not accompany you to the wall (they are not necessary). You must purchase cable car/sled tickets separately, or you can buy them from the guide on the bus (they are the same price). There are two routes to choose from: the red route from the 14th to the 20th towers - the most beautiful views, an uphill climb, and a roundtrip indoor funicular ride (140 yuan); the green route from the 6th to the 1st towers - the views are also beautiful, but not as breathtaking, an open funicular ride, and a sled/funnel ride (140 yuan). You can also combine them! I personally chose to only take the red route on the closed funicular and walk from the 14th to the 19th tower (I didn't have enough strength to go any further), then the return route from the 19th to the 6th tower and a sled ride! It cost 200 yuan. The whole journey took me 3.5 hours. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the guide, Maxim; he explained everything in detail, gave advice, and answered the group's questions. Thank you for the trip and the great atmosphere!

We booked this trip only expecting a driver to take us to a portion of the Great Wall, and we were superbly blown away at the lengths our companion was willing to go. We got to chose which and how many sections of the Great Wall we wanted to visit and he gave recommendations for and agains our options. During our drive to the wall he was very talkative even tho there was a small language barrier. There was water and snacks in the car, which we did not ask for, but was greatly appreciated.


