Covering a 3 km route, the tour is easy to follow and takes approximately 3 hours, depending on your pace and the stops you choose to enjoy. The route is circular, and you may start from any nearby point of interest. If you do, please walk counter-clockwise so the route notes (e.g. “Take a right at the next intersection”) match your direction.

Your tour begins in Faro's eastern quarter, near the Largo de São Francisco car park and the gateway to the historic center by the estuary. Start by exploring the ancient walled Old Town, leading to the scenic King Afonso III Square. Exit through the charming Arco do Repouso into Baixa de Faro, where cobblestone streets are lined with shops. Next, visit Faro's historic churches, including the Church of São Pedro, Carmo Church, Ossos Chapel, and the Convent of Santo António dos Capuchos. Loop back toward the estuary, passing Faro Marina and the tranquil Manuel Bívar Garden, and re-enter the Old Town through the grand Arco da Vila. The tour continues to Largo da Sé, featuring the Episcopal Palace, Town Hall, and the stunning Cathedral. Climb the Bell Tower for sweeping views of the city and estuary. Conclude your journey by leaving the Old Town through Porta Nova and strolling along the estuary back to your starting point.
