▲ Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is located in the Southern Alps of the central South Island of New Zealand. As one of New Zealand's most famous national parks, it covers approximately 707 square kilometers and was inscribed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Te Wāhipounamu" in 1990. With its highest peak reaching 3,754 meters, it's often called "the Roof of New Zealand." About 40% of the park's area is covered by glaciers, including the 29-kilometer-long Tasman Glacier.
