Reviews: Cairns: Great Barrier Reef Cruise & 10 Minute Helicopter
Guest User2025-12-28
The price point for this activity was great! We enjoyed the boat ride out to pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef. We booked the 10 Min Helicopter ride and highly recommend it! Our pilot, John, was exceptional. He was friendly and fun - the sights of the reef above were stunning. On the pontoon, you could snorkel or dive with the fish into the Great Barrier Reef. Highly recommend doing the semi submersible as well. The lunch buffet was decent, though if you don’t time it right, the food will be gone quickly. I just wish we had more time on the excursion!

Great value sun lover day trip, great. The scenery on the way out by boat is super beautiful, the buffet tastes good, there are many tricks, and the tube is full and enough. The crew service is also very thoughtful, and they are very patient to help take pictures and answer questions. The helicopter must experience it, beyond the unexpected surprise, from the sky to see the sea and coral reefs, the view is super shocking! Snorkeling also saw a lot of beautiful small fish, but also met turtles! A day to be full and happy, highly recommended!

Had a great day at the platform. Really enjoyed snorkeling and there was an additional option to go scuba diving. Lunch was lovely and enjoyed the submersible also. If you aren't great with boats, keep in mind that it takes two hours to reach the platform.
Reviews: Cairns Sunlover Fitzroy Island 1-day tour [Optional snorkeling/lunch | Emerald Island]

Easy to book with lots of options to suit your needs. We chose the transfer and snorkelling gear package. Just be mindful that you mind have to pick up the gear from other boat before heading to the one that will take you to the island. If you have a big family and kids, it might be problematic to take all of this stuff with you and walk to the boat. The boat was packed and we struggled to find a place to sit with all of this stuff, and had to seat separately. Apart from that the experience was great, the island is beautiful and you can see the reef and all the sea life. The beach itself is covered in washed away corals, which is beautiful but you might need coral shoes or crocs to make it easier to walk. You can also hike up the mountain or Nudey beach and the view and water is stunning. The food and water are pricey but you take take it with you from land.
