Reviews: Girona & Dali Museum Small Group Tour with Pick-up from Barcelona
Guest User2025-12-27
Before my trip to Barcelona, I knew about Salvador Dalí, but only in passing. I took this day tour to the town where he was born and where there is a museum devoted to his life and work to learn more. And I'm so grateful I did! I gained an incredible appreciation for him. In large part, that was because of the skillful guidance of our tour guide Vincent. On a tour like this, I would assume our guide was there mostly to let us know about locations and to help us with getting into museums. But Vincent really guided us in our exploration of Dalí. On the drive to Figueres, he gave us lots of information about where we were going and what we would see. Then at the museum, he guided us through several rooms, pointing out things about the art I never would have noticed on my own. He is incredibly well informed on his topic, and helped me learn in ways that I so appreciated. After the guided portion of the tour, we were given time on our own to explore the museum and have lunch. After Figueres, we went to the town of Girona, where once again Vincent gave us an incredibly informative tour of the town, and then gave us time on our own to explore. Once again, I learned far more than I had expected out of the tour. Vincent is truly one of the most well prepared tour guides I have ever seen. Along with Vincent was our driver Joaquín. On a day tour like this, when a significant amount of time is spent driving to and from locations, it is such a relief when the driver is a careful and conscientious driver. Joaquín made me feel very safe. He and Vincent were a great pair for this informative and beautiful day outside of Barcelona!

This is a great tour - good balance of guiding and independent exploration, good value for money and back by early evening

There were only two of us, so we had a private tour. It was a great day with clear communication and information beforehand. Our guide, Pau, did a fantastic job.

This trip was as described. More of a transport to and from the island and some info by the tour guide. But it was timely and the guide Luciano was great. I definitely recommend it

The tour itself is well organized. It's just that the places aren't anything special. The boat has a show, but there's a cover charge (optional). Ilha dos Frades is pretty, but nothing out of the ordinary. Ilha de Itaparica has absolutely nothing except a restaurant. There's nothing to do and the food is quite expensive. I don't recommend going to Itaparica.
Reviews: Schooner Tour to Frades Islands and Itaparica, Leaving Salvador - Bahia

Our day started cloudy and with rain! Almost everyone on board wired swimsuits and coverup or board shorts but the rain coming into side of boats was a bit of a nuisance even though they had plastic tarps brought down to help guests not get wet, rains drain onto seats. There was a group of Brazilian musicians on board which made the trip delightful but beware they are independent band that expect “donations” of at least R$25 and we didn’t have any cash /reais with us and offered R$5 ready which is nothing but they rejected that, maybe they got offended but we didn’t gave PIX which is similar to Venmo in the states! Oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🥱 Once we arrive at first stop island called “Ilha dos Frades” Nice calm beach with clear warm water to bath in. The ocean water was very shallow and allowed us to go far into ocean which was cool. For worn all there will be local vendors selling drinks and if you’re an American with dollars every item is pretty inexpensive. In fact everything in Brazil is very inexpensive and your dollars go along way! We left that island to Itaparica island to have lunch. It cost us $15/pp (R$75/pp) and lunch although visually looked good it was not tasty. Bahia is known for their fish dishes but unfortunately at this location the fish had bones and smelled fishy could not eat it. Ended up sticking with chicken stroganoff with white rice was good; beef was so tough, and beans were good but that it. I hate that we were forced to go there instead of another place.
