

▲ The Basilica of Esztergom is located in the city of Esztergom, 20 km from Budapest, also known as the Esztergom Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Construction of the church began in 1820 and was completed in 1869, taking nearly 50 years.


▲ The current cathedral has been meticulously restored, with its solemn and elegant facade featuring towering columns and a majestic central dome welcoming visitors arriving from the Danube Bay. The interior is lavishly decorated, with the nave laid out in a cruciform plan. Above the altar hangs the monumental "Assumption of the Virgin" painting, measuring 13 meters in height and 6.5 meters in width. The grand composition and vibrant colors of the artwork exude a solemn and reverent religious atmosphere.


▲ On the inner corners and the walls beneath the dome, there are portraits and sculptures of several renowned Hungarian archbishops.
