Our guide Matt was extremely well informed on the history of the sites, and an interesting guy as well. Our weather was rainy with heavy fog which limited our viewing pleasure, but Matt kept us positive. There is a lot of uphill walking in this day. My health app noted I walked over 17,600 steps and climbed an equivalent of 57 floors, so be prepared for a real workout and dress for total comfort. The sites are amazing though. At least it wasn’t crowded!★

He shared rich historical background and fascinating perspectives that brought every stop to life, from the colourful splendour of Pena Palace to the mysterious Regaleira Initiation Well with its intriguing Freemason connections. He also took us to a spectacular seaside restaurant for lunch with unforgettable views. Hands down one of the best private tours I’ve been on.★
