Reviews: Full-Day Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with 5 Hours at the Site (ENG/ESP/RUS Guided Bus)
Guest User2026-02-06
Highly recommended! The tour includes information about the wall, an entrance ticket, and roundtrip transportation from Dongzhimen Station. Please note! A guide will not accompany you to the wall (they are not necessary). You must purchase cable car/sled tickets separately, or you can buy them from the guide on the bus (they are the same price). There are two routes to choose from: the red route from the 14th to the 20th towers - the most beautiful views, an uphill climb, and a roundtrip indoor funicular ride (140 yuan); the green route from the 6th to the 1st towers - the views are also beautiful, but not as breathtaking, an open funicular ride, and a sled/funnel ride (140 yuan). You can also combine them! I personally chose to only take the red route on the closed funicular and walk from the 14th to the 19th tower (I didn't have enough strength to go any further), then the return route from the 19th to the 6th tower and a sled ride! It cost 200 yuan. The whole journey took me 3.5 hours. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the guide, Maxim; he explained everything in detail, gave advice, and answered the group's questions. Thank you for the trip and the great atmosphere!

Reviews: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Treasure Museum Small Group Tour

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

The driver contacted us a day in advance to discuss our itinerary for the next day. He was courteous and considerate, waiting for us downstairs at the hotel. The hour-and-a-half journey to the Great Wall was filled with extensive historical knowledge. He carefully considered our needs for rest and naps, and provided appropriate introductions to the surrounding scenic spots. He was warm, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous, showing a strong sense of place. We were feeling a bit tired on our way back to the city after Mutianyu and were planning to return directly to the hotel. However, the driver, taking into account our rest, realized we hadn't reserved tickets for the Forbidden City. To ensure our family of three didn't miss out, he thoughtfully recommended that we take advantage of the 30th, before the crowds reached us. While we could have ended our trip in the city, we were able to visit Jingshan Park with a 2-yuan ticket to see the Forbidden City and enjoy a panoramic view of Beijing at night, despite over an hour of traffic. Jingshan Park was a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. Thank you, driver! A true treasure!

Reviews: Beijing 1-Day Tour: Mutianyu Great Wall + Summer Palace (Including Transfers/English-Speaking Driver/Bird's Nest and Water Cube)

I had a really great time watching the sunset at the Great Wall! I was so lucky!! I saw the Great Wall's "Meow Guard" (a nickname for the Great Wall's security team) along the way! It was breathtaking; its grandeur and vastness were truly before my eyes!!! I hiked the western route (14-20) at Mutianyu. My goal was straight for the Hero's Monument!! I regretted not trying the toboggan run after taking the cable car up and down… Personally, I thought this route was relatively gentle, perfect for children and the elderly! It's just that I didn't have enough time, otherwise I would have also hiked the eastern route (6-1)!!! After all, I was saying: This outfit was for setting a new daily step count! šŸ’Ŗ Kolon Obli-k windbreaker and Kolon Cross-World hiking shoes. These Cross-World hiking shoes are absolutely gorgeous! They're both stylish and high-performing!!! Designed specifically for Asian foot shapes, these shoes require absolutely no break-in period. The inner lining features a Gore-Tex waterproof sock liner, providing both waterproof and breathable protection, ensuring you're completely safe even in the rain. The Vibram outsole offers exceptional grip; I love the supportive feel! And the shoes are incredibly comfortable! Having climbed the Great Wall and fulfilled my duty as a hero, may we, having traversed mountains and rivers, still find life worthwhile.
