Duration: 6 hour(s)
Details: Moray and Maras Salt Mines The meeting will be at 8:30 am at the water fountain in the center of the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. We will have a 1-hour drive to the town of Chinchero, where you will visit a textile shop to see wool dyeing. Then, we will visit the archaeological site of Moray, home to a circular cultivation terrace that somewhat resembles a Roman amphitheater. This was more like an agricultural laboratory for the Incas. Maras is home to the salt terraces found on the slopes of a hill. These geometrically shaped salt puddings produce a distinct type of salt that is rich in minerals and has a distinct flavor. The drive ends one block from the Plaza de Armas.
