Reviews: Ocean to Ocean Combo: Canal Boat Ride, Locks, Fort San Lorenzo

This tour has it all: wildlife, Canal viewing, history. And John is a great guide! He’s clear, audible, with his own earnest style and humor. They were very accommodating of the group’s needs while keeping us on schedule at the same time. And the lunch was delicious!

I was picked up at my hotel promptly at the time by Angel who greeted me professionally with a smile. He explained the daily itinerary and off we went. He knew to get to the Canal early, so we were in the line at opening time to avoid the rush of tourists. The rest of the tour was great. He very knowledgeable and knows the history of his country and facts well. He gratefully answered all my many other questions. I would book with him again. Thanks Angel!

First off, John was an amazing tour guide/host! His sense of humor was great. He's super knowledgeable about Panama and its history. He gave us some great history lessons lol The tour itself was great also! We didn't get to see as many monkeys or other animals as I'd hoped, but it was still a good time! And I liked the jungle walk too The brunch was SO GOOD! I wanted to bring some of the hojaldra with me to go! lol Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would do it again! Videos of my experience will be on my IG @thecounselle if you'd like to see more in depth!

Wow, we had a great time! And, there were only 2 of us on the tour! Juan, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the ecology and wildlife of the park as well as the history of the canal and U.S. involvement in Panama's politics. On top of that, he has lived an amazing (still young) life. If you go with his company, be sure to ask him about how he got to where he is today on the way back to your hotel. We saw, and fed from our hands, wild capuchin monkeys, saw a tamarin monkey and a howler (unfortunately he didn't howl.) The capuchins will come onto the boat and sit in your lap if you feed them grapes (provided by Juan!) While we were feeding the capuchins, one of the monkeys accidently knocked Juan's cell phone out of his hand and into the lake. Phone lost but Juan did not miss a beat during the tour. Be sure to use bug repellent for the hike part of the tour. Pickup and drop-off at your hotel. Thoroughly recommend his company.

The place is simply wonderful, it's well worth a visit! The hotel is a delight in itself: very good service, pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. The only downside was the lack of guidance regarding the check-in location; the reservation indicated one place, but in reality it was on the opposite side of the street. Check-in was supposed to start at 6:30 am, and we were already there waiting at 6:15 am, even arriving quite early, as requested earlier. I sent messages both through the app and the provided WhatsApp number, but unfortunately I didn't receive a response. Fortunately, an employee on site was extremely attentive, guided us correctly, and we were able to check in without any major problems.
