I had an amazing experience on the Rabbie’s West Highlands tour. The absolute highlight was the stunning landscape and castles — it genuinely felt like stepping into a fantasy or medieval movie at times. Every stop was more beautiful than the last, especially with the dramatic winter scenery.
Our guide, Shae, was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and engaging, and clearly passionate about both the history and the place. Despite the limited daylight in December, she went above and beyond to make sure we saw as much as possible, squeezing in extra viewpoints and stories without ever making the day feel rushed.
This tour was the perfect way to experience the Highlands in winter, and I’d highly recommend it — especially if you love dramatic landscapes, castles, and great storytelling.★

It was our 9th tour with Timberbush but also our second one with Gary!! We had him as our driver-guide more than 4 years ago and it was so amazing to have him again! The tour was operated by Hairycow and was at the end of January. The organization was excellent. After I purchased the tour, trip.com contacted me to reschedule it because the tour with a stop at the distillery wasn't available that day. I was offered a tour on the day I selected but with a lake cruise, or other days from the list that included the distillery. I chose the boat ride and was not disappointed. The bus was comfortable, with restroom and snack stops along the way. The views were stunning; I personally didn't have enough stops for nature photography. But the views are so beautiful that I wanted to stop every 100 meters. Late January was a good time for the boat ride; the boat has two decks, open on top and large windows on the bottom, and is well heated. There's also a bar with alcohol (I recommend the lower deck and look for the windows with the Nessie sticker for photos). And even though the program didn't say there would be hairy cows, the company named after them certainly showed them to us. Thank you!
