In the morning, we drove along the coastal highway towards the mountainous region of northern Montenegro. As the winding mountain road ascended, we reached Slano Lake, a man-made reservoir created for the Perucica Hydroelectric Power Station. Surrounded by towering mountains, the unique karst landscape forms a jagged shoreline dotted with numerous small islands covered in lush vegetation. The crystal-clear water reveals the lake bottom, and from the viewing platform, you can enjoy a panoramic view of this breathtaking scenery.
Continuing along the scenic mountain road, passing through several picturesque mountain towns and navigating a few bends, as the alpine meadows come into view, we enter the Dumilto National Park. Dumilto National Park boasts a unique alpine grassland landscape, where our destination, the Devil's Eye (Lake), lies quietly amidst the meadows. The lake is 630 meters long and 186 meters wide, with an average depth of 4 meters and a maximum depth of 11 meters. The color gradually deepens from the edges to the center, resembling the eye of a demon, hence its name.
Continue driving through Žabljak, dotted with wooden cabins, and arrive at the nearby Black Lake. The Black Lake is a massive glacial lake within Durmitor National Park, composed of two lakes—the Big Lake and the Small Lake—surrounded by dense pine forests and towering mountains, with scenery resembling a painting. A 3.5 km hiking trail encircles the lakeshore, offering those with energy the chance to walk around the lake.
After leaving Black Lake, we head to our next destination, the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge. Spanning the Tara River Canyon and towering into the clouds, the bridge offers breathtaking views of the canyon's beauty.
End today's itinerary and drive back to the hotel.
