Reviews: From Nagoya: Takayama & Shirakawa-go (Lunch Plan Available)
Guest User2026-01-27
I really recommend this days trip from Nagoya. Takayama's old town was stunning (and the Hida beef lunch is a must), while Shirakawa-go felt like walking through a fairytale. Huge thanks to our guide, Xiaoyu! She was wonderful- super organized and shared great local insights without being overbearing. She kept everything running smoothly and made the whole day feel easy and personal. If you want a stress-free way to see the Japanese Alps, this is it. A perfect day trip that didn't feel rushed!
Reviews: Nagoya to Shirakawa-go & Hida Takayama: UNESCO Heritage 1-Day Tour

The overall itinerary was somewhat rushed due to Japanese driver service time regulations. The Takayama leg of the trip was particularly tight, mainly because completing a meal and a full visit to the Takayama Jinya (traditional Japanese houses) within two hours was quite strenuous. Two hours was more than enough for the Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village. The tour guide was very professional and nice, and his explanations were quite interesting. The group members came from all over the world, with mainland Chinese tourists making up about 10%, making it a very international team.

there were only less than 15 of us so we used mini bus which was a bit tight for someone who is 175cm or higher. tour guide was funny and always available to assist. departed right on time, no stress to find the meeting point. wish we were given a little more time in takeyama as the surroundings were extremely beautiful. very good price for what we got. and of course the star of the show was shirakawago which was mind blowing. highly recommended especially if you are visiting in winter
Reviews: 1-day tour of Shirakawa-go + Hida Takayama + "Your Name" in Nagoya, Japan

We booked a group tour through Ctrip, which was very convenient. The meeting point was right outside one of the Nagoya Station exits. The guide took attendance and assigned seats. He gave a brief overview of the attractions and distributed a map. I'd heard colleagues talk about Shirakawa-go Gassho Village as being beautiful, especially in winter after the snow. Although we visited on October 7th, the scenery was still stunning. I hadn't expected such a beautiful village to exist deep in the mountains. It wasn't crowded, and we all had a wonderful time strolling through the beautiful village.
