Reviews: [English/Korean Guide + Free Pickup] Nanjing Tianluokeng Tulou + Yuchang Building Taxia Village 1-Day Tour

Today my parents and I went on a tour led by Wallace Yang, and assisted by Terry. This was super well done! Wallace was very professional and his English was great! He contacted me days before the tour to confirm our pickup location and time, and was there on time the day of. The tour was a 2 hour drive out to the tianluokun area where we saw the furnaces where steel was made, then we proceeded to the liauokun five building viewing platform then the village itself, then we had a nice lunch in the taxia village at a yummy restaurant with generous portions - we loved the eggplant potato dish, then we went to a bigger single oldest tulou, on our way back we looped through zhangzhou old town which was nice . Overall this was the best route for older people like my parents as they didn’t have to walk too too much (we still got in 8000 steps!)

The biggest highlight of my trip to Xiamen was visiting the Tulou (Hakka earthen buildings), especially Chuxi Tulou – it was definitely worth the trip! Our driver, Mr. Lin, drove incredibly smoothly and was a wonderful person! The itinerary was also perfectly arranged. There were six of us, including a 70-year-old and three children, and Mr. Lin was very considerate of us, always waiting for us along the way so we wouldn't backtrack and saving us a lot of energy! The most heartwarming thing was that we left Chuxi Village late, and Mr. Lin was the only car left in the entire parking lot. He never complained or showed any impatience – he was so considerate! A huge thank you to Mr. Lin! Thank you for your hard work! Wishing you and your family a lifetime of peace and good fortune!

Tuo Luo Keng was one of the highlights of my Fujian trip. The view from above — the famous “Four Dishes and One Soup” — was breathtaking, and walking inside the tulou gave me a glimpse of real Hakka life: wooden balconies, families drying produce, and tea stalls. What made the trip extra special was our guide, Kathy. She explained the history in clear English, made everything easy to understand, and even brought us to a local pearl store. Unlike touristy shops, this place felt authentic with fair prices and friendly sellers. It turned the visit into more than sightseeing — it felt like a cultural exchange. 💡 Tip: Ask for Kathy if you want an English-speaking guide who goes beyond the usual tour. She made our day smooth, fun, and memorable.
