Supplement applicable for airport pick-up and/or drop.Attractions and Activities: Mysuru Palace (Free entry) The Palace was built in 1912, at a cost of Rs.41.50 lakhs in the Indo-Saracenic style, a combination of Hindu and Saracenic features. The construction of the new palace was started in 1897, after the old wooden palace was caught in an accidental fire. Henry Irwin was the architect, and E.W. Fritchley worked as a consulting Engineer. The elevation is composed of intricately detailed and variegated elements - a profusion of rounded and slightly carved arches, canopies, slender columned colonnades, some with Hindu features in Rajput style, the intricately executed multiple mouldings, marble architraves, stained glass pavilion, durbar halls, panels, fine carvings of birds, foliage, animals in Hoysala style. Attractions and Activities: Srirangapatnam Fort (Free entry) The island fortress of the legendary Warrior-King Tipu Sultan, Srirangapatna is just 16 km from Mysuru city. The River Kaveri engulfs the town from all sides and creates unique island fortress which impenetrable. Inside the fortress is Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets, the celebrated Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Tipu's Summer Palace, the Wellesley Bridge, and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned. Equally impressive is the ornate white-domed Gumbaz, an imposing structure with doors of ebony inlaid with ivory and lacquered with Tipu's tiger-striped emblem. About 1 km to the east of the fort is Tipu's Summer Palace (known as the Daria Daulat Bagh) set amidst a lovely garden. The renowned Nimishambha (incarnation of Mother Parvathi) Temple on the banks of the river is located about 2 km from the town. The Wellesly Bridge was built by Dewan Poorniah in 1804 was named after Governor General Marquis of Wellesley, clearly proves a point about the abilities of constructing infrastructure for the long haul. Attractions and Activities: Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace (Free entry) Daria Daulat Bagh is a palace situated in the city of Srirangapatna, near Mysore in southern India. It is mostly made out of teakwood. Srirangapatna is an island in the river Kaveri, about 14 km from Mysore. Attractions and Activities: Sri Nandi Temple (Free entry) Chamundi Hills is the prime landmark of Mysuru city, visible almost from anywhere in the city center. The hill has very close association with the founding of the city. According to mythology this was the domain of the demon called Mahishasura. The place was thus known as Mahishapura or Mahishuru, the land of Mahishasura. And that later morphed into Mysore in English and Mysuru in Kannada, the local language. 1 hr(s)
