Located at an height of 1676 meters on the hills of the Tehri Garhwal District, Kunjapuri is one of the 52 shaktipeeth temples in Uttarakhand. It is believed that the chest of burned Sati (Lord Shiva's first wife) had fallen there, hence the name Kunjapuri was given to this temple as kunja means chest in sanskrit.
