Reviews: [Lunch Included, Optional Boat Ticket] Japan Kyushu Takachiho Gorge + Kumamoto Aso Volcano Kusasenri Day Trip

The itinerary was excellent and well-planned. The weather was perfect that day, allowing for close-up views of the crater. The scenery was beautiful, and the pace was relaxed and enjoyable. The tour guide spoke excellent Japanese, provided thorough explanations, and avoided being verbose or pushy. The beef set meal at the Chinese restaurant was also very good. This day trip is highly recommended. However, getting into Aso on your own is quite challenging, as it involves driving for over an hour through the mountains.

Our guide, Yoshitani, was very friendly! Unfortunately, it coincided with the "mountain scorching" (wildfire) of Mount Aso, a traditional event held annually in February and March in the Aso region of Kumamoto Prefecture. The aim is to maintain the vast grassland landscape, prevent deforestation, and prepare for new grass growth in spring by burning dry grass. Everything was a dark, smoky black. We'll have to come back another day!

Despite the fact that the boats were being serviced at Takachico Gorge and the crater was closed due to a helicopter accident, the tour was still great. I was impressed they called me to tell me about the cancellation of the boat trip and offered me a refund for that portion even before my trip started. When they found out the crater was closed, they also communicated it and offered a full refund if I didn’t want to take the trip anymore. I think it’s hard to come by companies these days that are so pro-active and handle issues so promptly. Yang Meng our guide was awesome, she contacted us, created a group chat and shared a lot of information about Mount Aso and Takachico Gorge. The Kusasenri area is very worth going to even if the Crater is closed. Takachico was beautiful and got to eat Nagashi somen out of bamboo shoots and water from the gorge. Cool experience. Yang Meng was so organized and told us beforehand how to make the best out of each part of the itinerary Highly recommend

Amazing 1-day tour covering Aso volcano area, Takachiho Gorge, and Kusasenri grassland. Great value for money! Alex is the BEST guide! Knowledgeable, fun, and gave great photo spot tips throughout the day. Note that Aso Volcano crater access depends on safety conditions on the day. We couldn't visit due to this, but the team extended time at other attractions to compensate. Highly recommend! Just be prepared for long bus rides and that Aso Crater access can vary day by day.

Our tour guide Jimmy Liu is very knowledgeable. Really went his way out to ensure we get the best out of this one day tour. He made sure that everyone heard the instructions before dispersing us. It's a pity that Mt Aso Crater was closed, other than that everything went so well. We highly recommend Jimmy Liu for your next day tour!

Our guides, Susa and Louis, were very professional, providing multilingual explanations throughout the trip. The itinerary was well-planned, and there was plenty of time. Special praise goes to the driver for choosing an alternate route to avoid highway congestion, which minimized the return delay. As a day trip that includes visiting hard-to-reach shrines and seeing beautiful scenery, I highly recommend it.
