Fantastic day trip taking in a 18thC fortress, a modern library and a stunning Buddhist Temple. Excellent value for money with a wonderfully entertaining and informative guide, Philip. Highly recommended

Our tour guide and driver was called Peter Pan (no pun intended). Tour was guided and informative. We started the day with a short work around the Sewon city walls, then took a drive to the Hwaseong temporary palace. Peter was really nice and walked with our group throughout, explaining various historical bits. Lunch was at Starfield (much quieter than the one at Coex!) at your own time and leisure. After that we went to Gwangmyeong cave. The cave was a little steep and had a lot of steps/stairs. The ascend uphill before entering the cave and number of stairs inside the cave itself could be challenging. It might not be a suitable activity for those with a lower fitness levels/ age or mobility issues :) Overall from pick-up to drop off took approx 9-10hrs, depending on Seoul traffic.

A very interesting tour; it's hard to choose what I enjoyed most—the walk along the walls of Hwaseong Fortress, the royal palace, or the folk village—the open-air museum. The Starfield Library should be considered a lunch break, as it's essentially a large shopping mall, a gallery with shops and restaurants. I'd happily spend another hour at the open-air museum, as it's impossible to see even a fraction of the exhibits in the limited time available, and it's a very interesting place. I'll definitely be returning. 🙂 The guide, Simon, is very kind and helpful, eager to share information not only about the sights we're seeing but also about other attractions.

Our guide John was really friendly and treated us to a lot of delicious Korean food. We also went to a folk village which was very interesting and had a lot of good photo spots. The village was very big and also had an amusement park for my daughter which was unexpected. After that we went to the fortress which required a bit of walking but the story behind it was very good. Some parts of it was sort of tiring but other than that it was wonderful. Finally we went to the local market which was very genuine and the food was great. My family ended up getting a bit lost but John found us in the end. The drive was a bit long but not too bad. His van was also quite comfortable and the view was very good. There are a lot of photo spots that almost filled my phone memory and surprised me as they were all great. Highly recommended for all families with children but please remember that there is a lot of walking involved so probably no grandparents or walking disabilities. Super brilliant!
