Reviews: Edinburgh: Loch Ness, Glencoe & The Highlands

Went on Wednesday 6th August with our coach driver Neil to go to Loch Ness through the Highlands. Scheduled many stops on a long journey, felt relaxed and he gave scottish knowledge and personal experience every so often throughout the trip. Was comical enough for a Scot. We had really nice weather (2 days earlier the wind was closing down high streets!). Plenty of chances to take photos. Although there were many to get on the boat at Fort Augustus, we were able to get a decent view of the Loch. Saw the monster, was about to take the photo, but she dipped back down into the water! Typical! Would highly recommend Neil for a trip into the Highlands, safe driver - even bought me the 2nd best drink in Scotland - an Irn Bru!

The tour was operated by Hairycow and was at the end of January. The organization was excellent. After I purchased the tour, trip.com contacted me to reschedule it because the tour with a stop at the distillery wasn't available that day. I was offered a tour on the day I selected but with a lake cruise, or other days from the list that included the distillery. I chose the boat ride and was not disappointed. The bus was comfortable, with restroom and snack stops along the way. The views were stunning; I personally didn't have enough stops for nature photography. But the views are so beautiful that I wanted to stop every 100 meters. Late January was a good time for the boat ride; the boat has two decks, open on top and large windows on the bottom, and is well heated. There's also a bar with alcohol (I recommend the lower deck and look for the windows with the Nessie sticker for photos). And even though the program didn't say there would be hairy cows, the company named after them certainly showed them to us. Thank you!

Your interactive and informative tour is worth every penny, especially since the proceeds go towards the upkeep of this beautiful museum-home.

Great fun. Our guide was Tommy Terror and he was excellent and engaging and told us about ghosts and murderers around the route. There were some fun happenings on the screen we were watching and we got off for ten minutes at St Cuthbert graveyard and church. Definitely recommend this. Lasted just over an hour
Reviews: Guided Edinburgh Private Walking Tour

This was one of the best tours I have been on. Our tour guide, Alastair Sim, was phenomenal. He adapted to all of our needs--short time, a member of our party in a wheel chair, and our desires of what to see. When he learned we'd already taken a tour of the Castle, he asked what we wanted to see. We didn't know, so he prompted with questions like: Do you like Game of Thrones or Harry Potter. We responded that we liked Harry Potter. Alastair then completely changed what he had originally planned and took us on a good walking tour that included many wonderful sites in Edinburgh along with a few specific to Harry Potter, but not limited just to HP. He was kind and patient as we pushed a wheel chair up steep hills and over cobblestone roads. His knowledge of Scotland was phenomenal. If you can get Alastair on a tour, you will be in for a treat!
