We booked the night before so it was a last minute decision but the best decision we could have made. Ritwick was provided as our guide and we were so very lucky. He spent the entire day providing us a VIP tour around Kolkata with so much knowledge about the history and the culture of the area. I had a fantastic tour with Muzzafar and the driver. As agreed, I was picked up from my hotel on time. There, we first discussed what we would be seeing. Muzzafar is very knowledgeable and experienced. The driver drove the vehicle very safely; it was very comfortable. We saw the most important sights, the highlight of which was, of course, the flower market. The tour also offered some great culinary experiences. We visited an Indian coffee house and, at the end, a lovely bakery. It was a wonderful day. I highly recommend this tour to everyone, even if you're traveling alone.

The road to Bishnupur is very rough through Arambagh and traffic will be a challenge from central Kolkata, especially returningadter 5pm. Once you get near Bishnupur, the trip really improves. The drive through the Joypur Forest is beautiful and gets you in the right frame of mind to visit the temples. We had a small car which could navigate through the small streets and didn't take scooter tuktuks. Our *** guide, Sauvik, and driver were very knowledgeable as was our local temple guide. The temples themselves are beautiful and the artistry of the terracotta work is to behold. We visited the Ras Mancha, the Jor Bangla Temple, the Lalji Temple, and Radhashyam Temple. To see all of the temples requires an overnight stay. The key was to get a very knowledgeable local temple guide and we got an excellent guide who described in detail the intricacies of each temple including historical dates, construction features and details. The tour included all expenses for the local temple guide as well as a lunch meal and tea along the way there and back. The tour also included a stop at a local Baluchari sari production unit where you can see the craftsmen making the saris using handlooms. There is a sari shop there, as well, with an excellent selection of local saris.

Fantastic Guided Tour of Kolkata. Our guide Subrata was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions fanatically. He even went to additional lengths to ensure we had a positive experience. After finding out my profession (civil engineer) he made a point of pointing out interesting structural/architectural elements and found us a lovely art store after I said I was interested in paintings. Would recommend highly to anyone. I feel like I really got to know Kolkata!


