It earned its name from the lush green moss in the courtyard and the vibrant play of light and shadow within. It is open to the public from April to June and October to December each year. The temple boasts the Ruri Garden, covered in glass-colored moss, and the Crouching Dragon Garden, embodying the image of a "flying dragon in the sky." In autumn, the vibrant colors of the leaves, reflected in the light and shadow, create a dazzling display resembling glass, attracting numerous visitors.
