Reviews: Flavors & Tradition: Walking City Tour with Food Tasting

We had an amazing time learning about and tasting so many foods and drinks that are unique to Peru with our wonderful guide Miguel. The tour was in the centre of Lima, the old town, which is architecturally stunning. Miguel was very knowledgable about not only gastronomy but also the history of Lima; we learned so much from him and he was truly a delight. I highly recommend this tour for all the reasons noted above but also because we likely would not have eaten some of the unique and delicious food otherwise. Final comment - come hungry as you will be absolutely stuffed by the end of the tour.
Reviews: Lima Bike Tour in Miraflores & Barranco - Shared small group

I really enjoyed the tour. It was a good way to get a first impression of miraflores and barranco. I recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in getting a good first impression of what these districts have to offer. John, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly and could also provide some helpful recommendation for good and drinks. I felt safe throughout the whole tour, as we rode along the bike paths.

This was our second food tour while in Peru. Our first was focused on the traditional Peruvian dishes. This one, like the title says was more of a local experience where everyday Peruvians might grab some food. The amazing thing was, when we arrived in the historic district to meet our tour guide it was none other than Manuel! Our tour guide from 10 days earlier who introduced us to the traditional Peruvian dishes on our first day the country. We were so excited to get to spend more time with him as he led us through the historic district explaining the history of Lima and the architecture from the different time periods. We also saw several government buildings including the Government palace and Congress as well as many cathedrals dating from the 16th century. During our visit, the area around the palace was blocked due to dignitaries from Ecuador visiting Peru. This didn’t interrupt our tour. He was able to keep us schedule with all of our stops. Don’t worry, there was food involved! Manuel does a great job of mixing in history and culture in between food stops. We started with Peruvian tamales and Pisco. Other stops included a very popular sandwich shop among the locals. We visited a local market where people from the community shop for meat, produce and really almost anything you can think of! We sampled several fruits native to Peru. We stopped at several food stands and ate the best churros we’ve ever had! My wife and I highly recommend this tour. Hopefully you get Manuel. He was kind, knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. Thank you Manuel for a wonderful time!

Excellent experience! Our guide, Diana, was very knowledgeable and provided excellent explanations of each place. The places we visited made for a short but comprehensive tour of Lima. Highly recommended!
