What a super place to visit and the ticket price helps to keep tbe reserve going.
Booked tickets for a hike after reading that you could get a short guided tour across the flycatcher walkway, when we got there the lady in the ticket desk actually explained it was a self guided tour but there might be a guide hanging around by the Flycatcher walkway.. She radioed ahead and said if we could be there by 1230 then a guide would help us..
We were really lucky to get Damien as our guide and as it was only me and my husband we could ask him lots of questions.. Damien was such a good guide, very knowledgeable and funny and told us all about Mauritius and it's flora and fauna and how they are trying to rewild indigenous plants at the reserve, if we hadn't have had a guide we would have missed out on so much.
Had a lovely hike up the the Ridgeway trail to the lookout which gives some exceptional views of La Morne and Île aux Benetiers and enjoyed meeting several giant tortoise on the way.
The museum was also worthwhile and overall the whole experience was very good, so much better than the 7 coloured sands park next door which is very touristy..
A small coffee shop and somewhere to sit after your hike would be the only improvement to make.★

We had an amazing boat trip and would definitely recommend it. The journey to Flat and Gabriel Island took about an hour and a half and was very pleasant. The crew was extremely kind and helpful. They provided us with snorkeling equipment and gave us great tips on the best spots to snorkel. Lunch was very good and well organized. We were lucky enough to see turtles underwater, swimming just a few centimeters away from me, which was an unforgettable experience. On the way back, we also saw dolphins, which made the trip even more special :) They also took us to another snorkeling spot, and while we were snorkeling there, it started to rain. Surprisingly, it felt truly magical and made the experience even more unique. There was good music on board and a great atmosphere throughout the day. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we highly recommend this trip.★

We were so lucky to see a huge group of dolphins 🐬, and we even swam with them three times! Thanks to our professional captains JieJie and Jason, who were incredibly nice and funny. Tianya Haijiao, Dalang Bay, and Natural Bridge are all great spots for taking photos. The only downside was the sugarcane fields on the way to Natural Bridge, which were a bit difficult to navigate. Our Chinese-speaking guide, Ying Na, was very patient and kind. Five stars!
