Reviews: Hakone Owakudani and Lake Yamanaka Day Tour, Free Hakone Ropeway, Optional 9-Person Small Group Transfer

Winter days are short and the day gets dark early, so the itinerary was quite rushed. We arrived in Hakone in the morning and didn't get to visit the art museum. We rushed to Lake Yamanaka around 3 PM to take photos of Mount Fuji with its backlighting. The driver was a Chinese woman who had lived in Japan for over 20 years. She drove steadily and chatted with us the whole way, which was very nice. It was a small group of 9 people, but that day it was just our family of 4, which was great. šŸ‘

Reviews: Hakone + Owakudani Day Tour: Includes Hakone Ropeway | Lake Yamanaka + Lake Ashi Dual Lake Experience

Despite the unpleasant weather, I still managed to see Mount Fuji! šŸ—» I think it was great value for money. It's impossible to see so many places in one day on your own. I think it was really worth it. I'd love to join a group tour to other places next time. The tour guide was also excellent, very attentive and detailed, and spoke both English and Chinese very well. I think the day trip was definitely worth it!

Reviews: Fuji from All Angles: Hakone Shrine, Owakudani, Yamanaka Lake & Oshino Hakkai

The day before departure, the tour guide would frantically call everyone on their phone, adding their contact information and creating a group chat to emphasize precautions and potential departure points. The next day, we boarded the bus on time and were divided into groups for roll call. Our lead tour guide was named Dani, and she had an assistant. They spoke a mix of Chinese and English, with 44 people on board. Dani explained the attractions and itineraries in both English and Chinese, communicating with the driver in Japanese along the way. Overall, she was incredibly responsible, busying herself with ticket purchases, arrangements, and helping guests find lost property. Because the tour covered several locations and traffic jams were common, it was essentially a whirlwind tour. Drop-off times at each location ranged from 10 to 45 minutes, so getting back on time wouldn't delay the rest of the trip, but it was still a tight schedule. Souvenir shopping meant no time to queue for photos, which meant no time to use the restroom, which meant no time to grab a snack. It was a trade-off. Mount Fuji is quite delicate; in bad weather, you can't see anything. All it took was a three- or four-hundred-yuan day of driving and sightseeing, and that was enough to make your back ache. My advice is to check the weather forecast, avoid weekends, and be prepared for a tough time. Don't lose anything, take some cash, a pillow, and a positive attitude. And drink less water. Life, after all, is so bitter. 🄲

This was truly an unforgettable day trip! The magnificent scenery was breathtaking, from the fun-filled pirate ship ride on Lake Ashi to the geothermal steam of Owakudani, every stop was perfectly timed and well-organized. The tour guide was friendly and helpful, providing rich and engaging explanations that allowed us to learn a great deal while enjoying the beautiful views. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Tokyo! šŸ˜
