Reviews: Matsumoto Castle Tour & Samurai Experience
Guest User2026-02-11
Were ally enjoyed the tour. Our guide Colin was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about Japan, Matsumoto, the Castle, and the Samurai. The timing of the day was prefect, not too rushed, lots of time to take everything in. Climbing the castle and learning tge history was great. we had walked past key areas ourselves earlierc8n the day and not known the significance, so really appreciated the value of a guided tour to learn more. The Samurai Experience was so much fun, and our Sword Master was very kind, encouraging and fun. it's a great tour, definitely recommended.

Shin was the best tour guide ever. I mistakenly showed up later than scheduled and he made sure to work with me to provide the full experience in the compressed time. This a great company to work with and I had a blast!

It was a great tour with a small group. The guide, Tim, was well versed with the area and local customs and was able to answer all questions thrown at him.

The overall itinerary was somewhat rushed due to Japanese driver service time regulations. The Takayama leg of the trip was particularly tight, mainly because completing a meal and a full visit to the Takayama Jinya (traditional Japanese houses) within two hours was quite strenuous. Two hours was more than enough for the Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village. The tour guide was very professional and nice, and his explanations were quite interesting. The group members came from all over the world, with mainland Chinese tourists making up about 10%, making it a very international team.

Originally, we were supposed to join a small group tour, but it was changed to a large tour bus tour because the group didn't make it. Our tour guide, Ms. Liu, was very considerate. From before departure to the return trip, she explained a lot of information to us. She was dedicated and responsible, which deserves praise. Because some members of the group were late, even though the tour guide had explained in advance that the tour bus would only wait for an extra 5 minutes, she still waited for the late members. She was very responsible. Of course, she was at ease with the members who were not on time, but she didn't understand why the whole bus was waiting for the latecomers. That's why we never like to join large group tours.
