Driver Tan arrived at the hotel early and was very reliable throughout the journey; his driving skills were excellent! We arrived at our destination earlier than scheduled.

A great experience and definitely worth doing when visiting Penang. My biggest tip would be to buy the fast-track ticket — the queues can be very long, especially at weekends and during holidays, and it saved us a huge amount of time. For us, it was absolutely worth the extra cost. The views from the top are fantastic, and I’d recommend allowing a few hours to explore properly. There are lovely walking trails and plenty of wildlife to spot — we saw large squirrels, monkeys and lots of birds. We did the Langur Way Canopy Walk, which was brilliant and very immersive — it's high up and you really feel like you’re in the middle of the rainforest. We also did the Curtis Crest Treetop Walk, arguably the biggest attraction here and highest viewing platform on Penang Island. It offers unrivalled views of the heritage bungalows of Penang Hill and has information about the history of Penang Hill: why the hill station was built, its colonial past, and the old mansions that were used as holiday homes to escape the heat. Some of these buildings are still in use today as hotels and places to eat. It’s noticeably cooler up on the hill, which makes it even more enjoyable. Overall, I’d definitely recommend spending an afternoon here — we really enjoyed it.

My driver/guide for this trip was Mr. Soni Liang, who was very humorous and talkative. He enthusiastically helped optimize the itinerary according to my travel plans and arranged unique and affordable local meals. I had a very fulfilling and satisfying day in Penang! Happy New Year and all the best!

We finished our itinerary around 3 PM, and afterwards they took us to sample famous local delicacies and drinks. We also had time to experience the local ferry service and discovered that it was very convenient to easily pull our luggage to the ferry terminal and transfer to the train – super convenient! The train station is right above the ferry terminal, so we didn't need to hire a car to cross the bridge to Butterworth.
