Itinerary
Explore the Salar de Uyuni on a full-day tour from Uyuni. Visit the eerie Train Cemetery, see the Flags of the World, and take photos at the Dakar race monument. Enjoy a delicious lunch and watch the sunset with a glass of wine.

Begin your excursion with a drive to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie Train Cemetery, located on the outskirts of Uyuni. See Bolivia's first locomotives and learn about their history connecting several major cities. Now corroded over time by the strong salt winds in this desert area, they make for a great photo backdrop.

Next, visit the small settlement of Colchani, where you will also find salt crafts and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool—excellent souvenirs to take home. Take photos as you cruise along the vast white expanse of salt, wade through the "Ojos de Agua Salada" (saltwater eyes), and visit a hotel made entirely of salt that is now used as a museum, the Flags of the World (where you can bring your flag and display it for free), and a Dakar race monument.

After a morning of exploration, lunch will be served near "Isla Incahuasi" (Fish Island). Afterward, you will have time to hike to the top of the island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Then, take some time to organize your group for fun distorted perspective photos on the dazzling white surface of the salt flats—playing with the scene will surely yield some fun and memorable pictures.

Finally, head to a spacious area to experience the unique sight of a beautiful sunset over the salt flats, with its dazzling colors spreading across the salar, enjoying it with a glass of wine. Return to the city of Uyuni by 7:15 PM.
