We will meet on Adolfo Alsina 400 acroos the Street From Basilica San Francisco de Asis, later we´ll walk to the Santo Domingo Convent. I will tell you about the English invasions and why this convent is so important in our history.
From there we will walk to the statue of Mafalda and if the queue is not too long we will take the famous photo.
The next stop is “la casa mínima”, which is the smallest house museum in Buenos Aires, but not before stopping at Zanjón de Granados, another museum where you can tour the underground tunnels of San Telmo. From there we will pass by the tango bar “el viejo Almacen”. We´ll talk about the origins of tango and if you need help to choose a tango show I can help you, later back to Defensa Street and now up to the “Mercado de San Telmo”. In the market we will see the different stalls. I will give you some time to look around and maybe buy something.
Then we will arrive at the famous square where we will also take some time to see the market and, perhaps, if we are lucky, we will be able to see tango dancing.
We will stop to see the beautiful San Pedro Telmo Church and Penitentiary Museum (former Women's Prison).
Almost at the end of our tour I will show you two more museums that can be visited in San Telmo, the Museum of Modern Art and the National Historical Museum. And finally, the last stop will be the "Casa Ezeiza", the famous "chorizo house", an open-air museum where you can explore antiques, while I share with you the history of European immigration in Argentina during the 19th and 20th centuries.
My goal is that you not only have a great time walking around this amazing neighborhood but that you also feel free to ask any questions about the city, what to do, where to shop and the nightlife.
Sundays are a very special day since in San Telmo the giant open-air fair takes place that runs through practically the entire neighborhood. It is definitely an unmissable day to visit this beautiful neighborhood.
I want to help you make the most of your visit to Buenos Aires, the city that never sleeps.
