After booking, I was contacted via WhatsApp. The car/minivan arrived at the hotel on time. The tour price includes transfers from the hotel to the port and back, a boat to and from the island, and a cottage that provides shelter from the sun. There aren't many activities on the island—mostly swimming and a restaurant. Smart phone service works. Showers and changing rooms are available.

A good blend of local sights and culture -- with a strong connection to the history of the area: sights in Bacolod city itself and north in the sugar plantation country. The old mansions. Very knowledgeable guide -- and friendly. Made the whole experience fun!

Connecting via QR code is hassle-free. The signal in Shanghai is generally good, but there were some spots at Haikou Airport where it didn't work.

I booked a VIP tour this time, and the itinerary was very packed, with five or six boat trips in total, making it a fairly in-depth tour. The Mekong River didn't look very clear; the water was quite yellow and covered with water hyacinths, but there was no unpleasant odor. The island had many plants (various fruits) and animals (pythons, crocodiles, catfish, etc.), and the guide led the tour, providing very enthusiastic explanations. At the narrow section of the river where boats were manually rowed, the guide mentioned that a tip was expected for the rowers. Before the tour ended, the guide suggested that if we were satisfied with the trip, we could also tip him; I felt I had to give him something, otherwise I'd feel awkward.

We really enjoyed the organization of the trip. The snorkeling was fun, and there were lots of fish. We even spotted a hornbill on Poda Island. The timing and itinerary were exactly as described. I highly recommend it.


