Itinerary
Join a deeply immersive tour of the places of the Battle for Cassino and the Landing Beach of Anzio where the events of the World War II come to life. Visit the cradle of the western monasticism Abbey of Montecassino, the Museum of Piana delle Orme with the largest war equipment and suggestive settings, the poignant American War Cemetery of Nettuno, the Museum of the Landing of Anzio and the place of the famous Landing by the Allies in the port of Anzio.

Depart from Rome by bus with a professional guide. Stop for a coffee break along the route. Visit the Abbey of Montecassino, the largest and the second oldest in the world, founded by Saint Benedict in 529. This huge site includes the 3 Cloisters, the breathtaking view from the Loggia del Paradiso, the statues of San Benedetto and his sister Santa Scolastica, the Basilica, the Crypt, and the Early Church of San Martino.

The Abbey was a stronghold of the German Gustav line, at the center of the battle from January to May 1944 between the Allies and German troops for the conquest of Rome, destroyed and after the war completely rebuilt stone by stone in eight years such as an extraordinary work never realized before.

Head for the immersive Museum of Piana delle Orme and explore the collection of tanks, jeeps, uniforms, guns, planes, landing ship tanks in suggestive and scenographic settings of the battlefields of Cassino and Anzio with original military equipment.

Enjoy lunch included in the museum's restaurant. Transfer to the American War Cemetery of Nettuno managed and maintained by the American Commission for War Monuments of Washington D.C. (U.S.A.), a huge field with tombstones of 7,862 fallen, the Chapel and the paintings as memories of the stages of battles.

Next stop in Anzio at the Museum of the Landing, set in the beautiful scenery of the seventeenth-century Villa Adele. The Museum displays uniforms, weapons (some recovered from the bottom of the sea in front of Anzio), decorations, documents, plans of battle and photographs of American, English, German, and Italian Army.

Then visit the port of Anzio, one of the Landing places where a memorial reminds the events of the Landing. At last, step off the bus at Beach Head Cemetery to give a tribute to the British soldiers buried here.
