Reviews: San Francisco: Alcatraz Island & 48-Hour Hop-On Hop-Off Tour
Guest User2026-03-17
Alcatraz is a must-see and very interesting. The package also included the aquarium, which was a particular highlight. The evening tour on the blue line was also cool. One day is actually enough for the main route (red). The great thing is that you don't have to see everything within 48 hours. It's no problem to go to Alcatraz on the first day, then to the aquarium and take the evening tour, and only start the hop-on/hop-off tour the next day. Just download the Big Bus app. A very well-rounded package for people who are in San Francisco for the first time and don't have too much time. 👍

We enjoyed seeing the city from a new perspective. We appreciated the bus drivers abilities to handle traffic as well as complications because life happens. It was a great experience and we were able to get some some sunshine as well!

Just a nice, overall peaceful experience where I actually learned a few things along the way. Plus, you can’t best 2 for 1 drinks!

Amazing! When we arrived on Alcatraz, we were met by Brian (a guide) who was extremely informative and knowledgeable. Moving on to the guided tour (via headphones) again, this was very well done and timed perfectly to allow you to fully engage in the experience. The day was topped off by meeting William ‘Bill’ Baker who is the last surviving inmate of Alcatraz and him signing his book about his experience. The Golden Gate Tour was good but sadly could not fully hear the history which was played over tannoys due to the amount of people talking but got some amazing views and also got to see some Sea Lions.
