To get a true taste of Palmer, we'll meet in the downtown area and head to a glacial valley in scenic Hatcher Pass. Once in Hatcher Pass, we'll set out on the Gold Mint trail, a well-maintained gravel trail.
Although the trail ventures for miles up the valley, our trip will be about 4 miles total on an out-and-back hike. Your local guide will discuss how glaciers carved the Mint Valley and what prospectors found while panning in the early 20th century.
Our turnaround spot is an old beaver dam. Here we'll enjoy snacks and a water break, soaking in views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Following our valley walk, we'll stop at a local brewery (non-alcoholic options available). Learn about the brewers, discover what's crafted using locally harvested ingredients, and sip on a beverage.
This activity starts and ends at the Palmer Visitor Center and Museum unless alternative pick-ups plans have been prearranged.
