Experience an authentic tea ceremony at the Joukeian, tea house in Kyoto. Enter the tea room and view the tea garden with its beautiful moss. As the room becomes darker, be enveloped in a magical atmosphere in the light of Japanese candles.
At Joukeian, the tea utensils and hanging scrolls are changed each month according to the seasonal event or thema. Even if you are a repeat customer, you can experience a different theme each month.

Watch the host's demonstration of the tea ceremony and you can enjoy two kinds of powdered green tea (thick tea and light tea) and sweets. That's a beautiful performance in the candle light.

Course Content and Progression
1. Have a seasonal drink in the waiting room.
2. Move to the tea room
3. Explanation about tea ceremony about the spirit of tea, Chaji (formal tea gathering of the ultimate hospitality), and the way of drinking of the tea
4. Have a main sweet
5. Back to the waiting room (Short brake)
6. Move to the tea room again
7. Demonstration of tea ceremony by a tea master
8. Enjoy the two kinds of thick tea, thin tea and confection
