Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Puebla, where you'll meet your expert guide for an exhilarating day of hiking. From there, we set out toward the stunning Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park, located at 3,500 meters (11,483 feet) above sea level. The drive offers breathtaking views of Mexico's legendary volcanoes as we make our way to the park entrance.
Upon arrival, we register at the park checkpoint before starting our trek. We'll be hiking along the famous Paso de Cortés, a historic mountain pass named after the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés, which offers incredible views of both Iztaccíhuatl (5,230m / 17,160 ft) and the active Popocatépetl volcano (5,426m / 17,802 ft).
The round-trip hike covers 14 km (8.7 miles), leading us through diverse landscapes, from pine forests to high-altitude meadows. As we ascend, you'll feel the crisp mountain air and witness the beauty of the Valley of Mexico below. The goal of our trek is to reach La Joya, sitting at 3,900 meters (12,795 feet), where we'll take in panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Throughout the hike, your guide will provide support, motivation, and insights about the region's unique geology, history, and biodiversity. You'll have plenty of time to rest, take photos, and enjoy the incredible scenery before beginning our descent back to the starting point.
After completing the hike, we return to the vehicle for a comfortable ride back to Puebla, where we'll drop you off at your hotel, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this epic high-altitude adventure.
